Recap / The Omnitrix Hero S 1 E 10 Bemusement Ride

Go To

Flash has been exhausting himself with school work, club activities, and being a hero, and Trixie convinces the Rainbooms he needs a break. Unfortunately, their plan to take him to a small amusement park to relax is ruined when Equestrian Magic affects a maintenance man's spanner, and he goes mad with power trying to make every ride in the park "awesome" to the point they become unsafe.

  • Continuity Cavalcade: When Trixie is explaining to the Rainbooms why Flash needs a break, without revealing his Secret Identity, she lists various events he has been through lately; including Flurry's birthday, Negatine, both of them being trapped underground with dinosaurs, and the tech eating robot.
  • A Day in the Limelight: The Rainbooms play a larger role than usual in this episode, being the ones to take down the maintenance man and help Flash save the day.
  • Foreshadowing: Trixie ends the chapter feeling inadequate and wishing she had powers of her own so she could better help Flash and the Rainbooms. This foreshadows her eventually gaining magic powers of her own a few chapters later.
  • I Reject Your Reality: The maintenance man refuses to acknowledge that his alterations to the rides are dangerous and potentially deadly. He insists he is making them more awesome compared to how boring they previously were. When it was pointed out how one of the rides he changed broke apart, he says it was the alien's fault that happened, when Vapaw was just trying to save people from the ride.
  • No Name Given: The maintenance man's real name is never revealed.
  • Non-Protagonist Resolver: While Flash does use his alien forms to help save innocent people from being hurt from the out of control rollercoasters, that's ultimately all he can do. It falls on the Rainbooms to save the day by destroying the magical spanner causing all the chaos. Though this is justified since dealing with rogue Equestrian magic is their specialty.
  • Shout-Out: When Chamalien saves a little girl and her cat from a tree, he gives her a playful grin and waves to her before vanishing, with only his grinning smile and eyes remaining for a few seconds before vanishing too. This is often how the Cheshire Cat from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland would disappear.
  • Spy Speak: When Trixie tricks Flash into driving to the amusement park, as soon as he parks his car she calls the Rainbooms and tells them "The butter is in the pan. Turn on the heat!" and Rainbow quickly boots Flash's car, forcing him to stay and enjoy himself.
  • Wake Up, Go to School & Save the World: Deconstructed with Flash once again. Despite no longer being in a band, he still finds himself busy with lots of school related activities and is constantly saving people as his different alien heroes. This has caused him to become exhausted, and has started to effect his school work. Trixie realizes he needs a break before he runs himself ragged.
  • With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility: Trixie is upset that her plan to have Flash relax for the day fell apart because of the unexpected appearance of Equestrian Magic. Flash tells her this is just who they are now and he and the girls can't ignore people that are in danger just for themselves. Though everyone acknowledges Trixie is right about them needing some time off occasionally, and they shouldn't stop trying to have fun with their free time.
