Didn't Think This Through: Andy thought that if he started off a round of toasts, some compliments would come back to him. Through extremely bad luck, none of his staff or his boss thought to include him, making him look even worse.
Parental Favoritism : Andy’s father makes no secret that he prefers his youngest son.
Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: Andy’s father has little to no respect for his son or care about his feelings. He rather coldly butts Andy out of singing a duet with him (that Andy invited him to do) and when he runs off upset because of this and Andy says he just wanted his father to be proud of him, rather than apologize to his son for the way he's treated him or try to make him feel better, he instead berates him, bluntly telling him he isn't proud of him and belittles him for still wanting approval from his father seeing it as childish.
Lack of Empathy: Andy’s father sees his son run off in emotional distress, what’s his response? He sees is as an "obnoxious tantrum" and basically says “son, I’m not proud of you, get over it, the fact that you still want me to be proud of you is childish and annoying.”
Landline Eavesdropping: Probably as modern of an equivalent as you can get with many of Andy's office mates hearing his dad berating him.
