Season 2 Episode 07:

Nina Azarova

Karim returns to the house with reinforcements, OA tries to access Nina's memories, and Hap offers to discharge Scott — after one last experiment.

Tropes present in this episode include:

  • Ambiguous Situation: Karim manages to retrieve Michelle's comatose body, but her grandmother states that Michelle "is still in the house".
  • Anger Born of Worry: Karim, toward the OA when she shows up at his apartment. After losing her in the house, he called her multiple times and went by her apartment, but couldn't find her.
  • Flipping the Bird: Scott does this to Hap after Hap asks him to take part in one last experiment. Scott does eventually agree, under the condition that Renata be released if he does so.
  • Internal Reveal:
    • Played with. Hap reveals to Dr. Roberts that Rachel is dead, but tells him that she slit her own throat.
    • The OA admits to Karim that she's from another dimension, knew Michelle as Buck, and suppressed Nina's conciousness. Needless to say, he does not take it well.
  • The Reveal:
    • Elodie explains that the OA, Homer, and Hap are all connected no matter what dimension they're in; that the events of one dimension can have a ripple-effect on other dimensions; and that she has to integrate her consciousness with Nina's if she wants any chance of saving Homer.
    • Ruskin's dreamers have been dreaming of four things, not just three. The fourth was a man's face — Karim's. The house seems to want him for some reason.
    • Ruskin later reveals that he has Michelle Vu alive, but comatose.
  • Sharing a Body: By the end of the episode, Nina seems to have taken over control of her body from the OA.
  • The Sociopath: Pierre Ruskin is fully aware that the empty house is full of poisonous gases and knowingly tricked a bunch of kids into going inside to figure out the house's puzzles. He doesn't care how many lives have to be ruined or cut short for him to get to the other side of the Rose Window.
