Recap / The New Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh S 1 E20b Tiggers Shoes

Go To

After getting fed up with Tigger bouncing through his garden, Rabbit tricks him into trying to jump to the top of the famously high Castle Ridge, with the aid of weighted shoes he claims belonged to the Awesome Bunny of Upsidasium. But Rabbit's plan soon begins to get out of his control when Tigger starts sleep-bouncing, making the residents of the Wood think the "Awful Bunny" has come back for his shoes.

Tropes:

  • Everyone Has Standards: Gopher is willing to go along with Rabbit’s initial prank to get Tigger to gather all his cabbages for him. When Rabbit begins weighing down the shoes, however, he bails out for it getting too mean-spirited.
  • Gone Horribly Right: Rabbit's plan to get Tigger to stop bouncing him backfires when it causes him to become a better bouncer than ever.
  • Here We Go Again!: After Tigger is finally able to scale Castle Ridge (with the "help" of Rabbit's weighty shoes), Tigger has high hopes in that he'll able to scale even the moon with a bit more training. Rabbit's response? To pass out.
Tigger: Well, whaddya know? Overcome with exciter-ment.
  • Imposed Handicap Training: After days of stubbornly practicing with the shoes, Tigger actually is able to bounce up Castle Ridge in his sleep when he isn't wearing them, causing him to mistakenly think this was Rabbit's intention all along.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Gopher invokes this on Rabbit by spilling the beans on his entire plan in front of Tigger, Pooh and Rabbit. Fortunately, Tigger takes it well.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Rabbit begins to regret his joke when nobody finds it funny.
  • Non Sequitur, *Thud*: Tigger is so exhausted from practice with the shoes that he muddles his words and ends up saying "Awful Bunny" instead of "Awesome Bunny". It sticks for the remainder of the cartoon.
  • Prank Gone Too Far: Rabbit crosses a line when he weighs down Tigger’s shoes, believing Tigger is doomed to never be able to bounce Castle Ridge. Gopher calls him out for taking things too far, but Rabbit insists Tigger deserves the humiliation until he hears Pooh and Piglet express pity for him. Only then does he realize he went too far.
  • Sleepwalking: After hearing Rabbit boast about how the Awesome Bunny could jump Castle Ridge in his sleep, Tigger ends up doing it.
  • Sustained Misunderstanding: An exhausted Tigger accidentally muddles up the story Rabbit told him of the "Awesome Bunny", instead talking about how the "Awful Bunny" bounces you when you're asleep. He gets confused for said Bunny when he starts sleep-bouncing, with Pooh and Piglet thinking the Awful Bunny has come back to reclaim his shoes.
