Recap / The Loud House S 6 E 24 Day Of The Dad Small Blunder

Go To

"Day of the Dad"

Lori is visiting Great Lakes City to meet Bobby's dad for the first time, but after accidentally shoving him into a puddle, she struggles to make a good first impression on him.
  • Call-Back: To The Casagrandes:
    • Lori and Lincoln recall how they once showed up to the Casagrandes' Christmas celebration, as depicted in "A Very Casagrandes Christmas".
    • Bobby still has his own apartment from the series finale, "Movers and Fakers", and has kept his kigurumi from "Maybe-Sitter".
  • A Day in the Limelight: For Lori.
  • Dramatic Irony: On her way to meeting Arturo, Lori unknowingly ends up running into him and getting into a fight with him over a cab.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Lisa's PAMELA amnesia device.
  • Missed Him by That Much: During the ending of "A Very Casagrandes Christmas", it turns out Lori had to use the bathroom as soon as she showed up at the Casagrandes' apartment, but in doing so, she missed Arturo wishing the Louds a merry Christmas as he had to get extra masa.
  • Oh, Crap!: Lori has many moments of this during the episode, from realizing she'd accidentally shoved Arturo into a puddle to seeing Bobby whip out his cell phone to show pics of her to Arturo.

"Small Blunder"

Lily borrows Lisa's shrink ray in an attempt to get the best show-and-tell in preschool.
  • Always Second Best: When Lily explains she's taking her Blarney toy to show-and-tell, her siblings and dad warn her that when they went through show-and-tell, they always dreaded it because they would frequently get upstaged by someone else. Indeed, Lily spends the first part of the episode getting one-upped by her peers during show-and-tell, driving her to steal Lisa's shrink ray. In the end, she learns to be fine with not always being the best.
  • Artistic License – Physics: The physics of Lisa's shrink ray. When it shrinks various objects, their mass seems to change, too; notably, Lisa is able to set a shrunken Vanzilla on her desk with no problem, and a shrunken Lily is able to sit in the cockpit of a toy plane with no issue.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Like in "Any Given Sundae", Lily gets to be the protagonist of this episode.
  • Bread, Eggs, Milk, Squick: While rummaging through Lisa's various experiments to use one for show-and-tell, Lily finds a microscope, a beaker with a chemical, a plasma ball, and another beaker with a living creature inside. Her reactions:
Lily: [finds the microscope] "Nope." [finds a beaker with a chemical] "Nope." [finds a plasma ball] "Nope." [finds a beaker with a creature inside] "No way."
  • Call-Back: Lisa's password for her bunker is still her birthday.
  • Cassandra Truth: Due to peanut butter short-circuiting the controls of the shrink ray, Dr. Shuttleworth thinks Lily is just playing pretend, despite Lily's insistence that it really works. Once Lily licks the peanut butter off, though, the shrink ray does work.
  • Ill-Timed Sneeze: While the shrunken toddlers are trying to hide in a dollhouse from Tater Tot, Audrey is about to sneeze from the dust Tater Tot kicks up from running around. Lily tries to help her hold it in, but the sneeze ultimately comes out, alerting Tater Tot to their presence.
  • Incredible Shrinking Man: Lily accidentally shrinks herself and her classmates.
  • Serious Business: Show-and-tell. Lily is at least justified, but her siblings and dad all have bad memories of their experiences with show-and-tell, particularly how it plays a role in social standing amongst school peers.
  • Shrink Ray: Lisa has invented one. Note that in this case, "shrink ray" is, in her words, the "street name"; it's officially known as the Concentrated Radiant Energy Diminution Device.
