A Star is Scorned

When Lola realizes that double the cuteness could help her break into show business, she teams up with Lily.

"A Star is Scorned"

  • Beauty Contest: One is held in the Royal Woods Mall where the winner will become the Cutest Kid at Reininger's. Lola enters the contest and becomes a finalist, only to discover that Lori entered Lily in it, and Lily became the other finalist. Lola later tries to sabotage Lily's chances of winning, but feels guilty about doing so when Lily shows her a picture she drew of them together.
  • Big Sister Instinct: Upon realizing that Lily wasn't competing with her after all, Lola tries to get her flashdrive back, and when the judge refuses to give it back, Lola tackles her to the ground, sacrificing the competition in the process.
  • Big "WHAT?!": Lola does this when she is cut from the Burpin' Burger commercial in favor of Lily.
  • Brick Joke: Early in the episode, Lori is mistaken for Lola's assistant. By the episode's end, Lola has just finished filming a karate corner commercial and requests a juice box to cool off... only for Lori to tell her, "Still not your assistant!"
  • Burning with Anger: Lola when Ms. Carmichael won't give her back the flash drive with Lily's tantrums on it.
  • Covered in Mud: The Spa Day advertisement involves Lola and Lily covered in mud. Lily is in the mud bath, while Lola is hiding in the bush glaring at her.
    • Also, one of Lily's brattier moments involves her and Charles almost completely covered in mud.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For Lola and Lily.
  • Disqualification-Induced Victory: When Lola and Lily are both picked as the finalists for the Royal Woods Mall's Cutest Kid contest, Lola gives Ms. Carmichael a flash drive with a video of Lily's tantrums on it. She later feels guilty about doing it when Lily gives her a picture she drew of them together. When Ms. Carmichael refuses to give the flash drive back, Lola chases her down aggressively, resulting in her being disqualified and Lily winning the contest by default. Lola is okay with this.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: When both Lola and Lily are chosen as the finalists for the Royal Woods Mall's Cutest Kid contest, Lola is sure she's going to lose because everyone thinks everything Lily does is cute. When Lily poops her diaper, this gets Lola to realize that not everything Lily does is cute, and gives her the idea to film Lily's worst moments, such as throwing her food at the dinner table, riding on a mud-covered Charles, unrolling the toilet paper roll, and screaming and kicking while being put in her crib.
  • Faint in Shock: Parodied when Lola tells her teddy bear Mr. Sprinkles that Lily is a finalist for a cuteness competition, and Mr. Sprinkles coincidentally flops over. Lola responds with, "I know, it's shocking!".
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Lola becomes jealous of Lily getting all the attention in commercials, especially when the director trims Lola's parts or cuts them out altogether in favor of Lily's. She even goes as far as to try to sabotage Lily's chances at winning the Royal Woods Mall's Cutest Kid contest.
  • Incredibly Obvious Bug: Lola films Lily throwing food at the dinner table by wearing a huge wig with an obvious camera lens in it.
  • Leaning on the Furniture: Lily takes out a pair of sunglasses and leans on an arcade machine when Lola tells her not to look too impressed by the filming equipment at the arcade.
  • Mistaken for Servant: When Lori walks in carrying a huge pile of Lola's dresses, the director mistakes her for Lola's assistant.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Lola films a video of Lily throwing tantrums with Lori's phone and puts the video on a flash drive, which she gives to Ms. Carmichael to get Lily disqualified from the Royal Woods Mall's Cutest Kid contest. When Lily gives Lola a picture she drew of them together, Lola feels guilty about what she did and tries to get the flash drive back.
  • Oblivious Guilt Slinging: Right after Lola gives Ms. Carmichael a flash drive to sabotage Lily's chances of winning the Cutest Kid contest, Lily shows her a picture she drew that shows how much she loves Lola. Cue My God, What Have I Done? moment from Lola.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: When Lola runs into Lori and Lily at the mall, she's quick to tell him that she didn't just audition for the Cutest Kid contest.

Senior Moment

Lori realizes she hasn't done anything big in her high school career and tries to fix that.

"Senior Moment"

  • Brick Joke: When Lori and her friends try to watch the stars at the football field, a flock of geese attack them for their snacks. At the end of the episode, another goose appears to steal Lori's phone.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For Lori.
  • Did You Get a New Haircut?: During the party, Lori is dared to cut a chunk of her hair off. Later, Rita asks her if she did something new to her hair.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: After eating hot peppers, Lori resembles someone who looks intoxicated after drinking alcohol.
  • Exorcist Head: Roger's head spins all the way around after eating hot peppers.
  • Fictional Counterpart: The movie Lori and her friends watch at the beginning of the episode has a hundred loves on Dank Potatoes, a reference to real-life movie rating site Rotten Tomatoes.
  • Fire-Breathing Diner: When Lori, Roger, and Carol eat peppers.
  • My Favorite Shirt: When paint splatters on them, Roger complains about his best polo shirt getting ruined. Later, he complains about his second and third best polo shirt getting ruined.
