"Good Sports"

Lynn finds an unexpected TV sports watching buddy in the family's next-door neighbor, Mr. Grouse.

"Good Sports"

  • Birds of a Feather: Lynn and Mr. Grouse find out they both share an intense love of sports.
  • Continuity Nod: Lynn is still as superstitious as she's always been. Here she performs several dances before watching games on TV and even persuades Mr. Grouse to try it out. He believes it to be nonsense, but plays along just for fun.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For Lynn and Mr. Grouse.
  • Disco Dan: The interior design for Mr. Grouse's rec room is straight out of the 1970s, with wood panelling and shag carpet galore.
  • Even the Dog Is Ashamed: After Leni, Lola, and Luna walk out on watching football with Lynn, Charles also gets bored and walks out.
  • Oh, Crap!: When Lynn and Mr. Grouse find out they root for opposing baseball teams.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: Between Lynn and Mr. Grouse due to their love of sports.
  • Shout-Out: It's not surprising inhabitants of Royal Woods, Michigan would cheer for a team called the Lions.
  • Shown Their Work: If you look in the background of Mr. Grouse's house, you can see 1935 and 1957 championship memorabilia. Those are years the Detroit Lions won championships.
  • Sore Loser: Both Lynn, as usual and Mr. Grouse display signs of this. Specifically, when they’re revealed to cheer for opposite baseball teams, cheer for one or the other and break their friendship over said opposites. They do lighten up after starting to miss each other.

"Geri-Antics"

When Lisa realizes that Pop Pop won't be around forever and will eventually die, she turns to science to ensure his longevity.

"Geri-Antics"

  • A Day in the Limelight: For Lisa and Pop Pop.
  • Green Around the Gills: Pop-Pop's reaction to eating an entire raw fish.
  • Never Say "Die": The crux of the episode is Lisa becoming worried when Pop Pop mentions he isn't going to be around forever, but at no point is some version of "dead" said.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Downplayed: from enforcing an intensive diet and exercise program, to straight up making a robotic suit that must constantly be charged, Lisa only wants to make sure Pop Pop doesn't die in the foreseeable future.
