Recap / The Interns S 2 E 12

Go To

Bykov receives a business trip in Milan, as a gift (together with Kisegach)... which means that Kupitman would miss his this year. Kupitman objects, and now would do everything to get back what he "deserves". When attempt to persuade Kisegach into giving him "his" business trip back fails, Kupitman learns that there're two tickets, and decides to change tactic... by provoking Bykov (who's not yet aware that Kisegach reserved a second ticket for herself; and he must not learn this until it's too late, or he would refuse) into persuading Kisegach to give the second ticket to Kupitman. In the end of the day, Bykov finally confronts Kisegach about the whole story with business trip... and, to her surprise, says that he agrees to take that ticket.

Levin must somehow deal with Fyodor (who changed his tactic and instead of acting like a dirty gopnik he is, now pretends to be a gentleman) before it goes too far. Gleb thinks that Levin must act self-confidently and just order Fyodor to leave, while Semyon insist that the only way to do so is to kick Fyodor out through brute force. But when Levin tries his method, he fails utterly... and that's when Lyuba intervenes and kicks Fyodor out of the hospital, enraged by his treatment of Levin.

Lobanov's patient turns out to be an exhibitionist, and Lobanov barely manages to hold himself from just beating up the guy. Gleb offers him a bet: wether Gleb would deal with this guy non-violently, by just speaking to him. The patient tries to hold himself, but ultimately snaps, making Gleb fail the bet; but when Semyon hits exhibitionist in the face, it miraculously makes him quit his antics, for which he thanks Lobanov.

This episode provides examples of:

  • The Extremist Was Right: Turns out that Semyon was right, both about inability to deal with Fyodor "kindly" (Levin tried and failed, only for Lyuba to do it by herself), and about inability to "fix" the exhibitionist patient without violence (he starts acting normally after being hit in his face by Lobanov, and even thanks Semyon for helping him).
  • He Cleans Up Nicely: Fyodor's clean, respectful look highly contrasts with his gopnik-like look from the previous episode. He also acts more gentle towards Lyuba. Now, it's more believable how she fell for him in the first place.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: Fyodor. Him cleaning up, starting speaking more gentle towards Lyuba, and even gifting her flowers? All of this was just to fool her into restarting their relationship, which he immediately tells Levin once Lyuba goes sufficiently far away from them. And when Lyuba can't see him, Fyodor acts just like usually.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Kupitman's attempt to learn who would receive a second ticket ends in everyone being interested as well. While Kisegach wants to keep it hidden from Bykov until the last moment at all cost. However, in the end Bykov actually agrees.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: When Levin confronts Fyodor about him trying to "steal" Lyuba, Fyodor just starts abusing him... only for Lyuba to appear and witness Fyodor's true colours. She kicks his ass and forces him to leave.
  • Non-Action Guy: Levin proves Lyuba's point from the previous episode when he actually meets Fyodor, and Lyuba gets forced to save him.
  • Reluctant Fanservice Guy: Lobanov's patient is an exhibitionist (though it would be stretching to call him "attractive"). Since Lobanov can't control himself near him, Romanenko offers him a bet, that he would deal with this patient for Semyon, non-violently. By speaking with him, he learns that the patient can't control himself, and is really sorry for discomfort he causes to the others. He even tries to act normally, but he can't control himself for long, and quickly snaps. This provokes Semyon into hitting him in the face, which, somehow, fixes him (at least for some time).
  • Ship Tease: Kisegach clearly wants something more from her relationship with Bykov than them being the Friends with Benefits, and this is her motivation about the whole story with business trip to Milan. In the end, despite all her fears, Bykov, when he learns about this, agrees.
