Tropes

  • Double-Meaning Title: We get Will's closing argument, and this is the season finale.
  • Elevator Going Down: Played for equal parts laughs and catharsis because, in addition to Will and Alicia having to rent the expensive Presidential Suite for their rendezvous at the end of the episode, the elevator stops on every third floor for some unexplained reason. So what we get is a montage of elevator doors opening and closing as they go from standing awkwardly side by side to passionately making out against the wall by the time they get to the top floor.
  • Hide the Evidence: It's suggested but never confirmed that Glenn Childs concealed the judge's missing glove.
  • Mistaken for Racist: Discussed. A witness Kalinda talks to complained to the victim about how Italian-Americans are stereotyped as mafia, and asks Kalinda if she is Persian and how she would like it if he assumed she was a terrorist.
  • Relationship Upgrade: After the trial is over, Alicia and Will go out for tequila shots, and after two seasons of having "bad timing", Will wonders aloud what would happen if, just once, they had good timing. They rent a room together at the hotel and start an affair.
  • The Reveal: When the trial is over, we learn that it was Peter who mailed the glove to Lockhart/Gardner.
  • Title Drop
  • Visual Pun: The episode opens on Will's closing argument in the trial they started working on at the end of the previous episode.
