Ri'chard's nephew's bone marrow donor opts out at the last minute, so Ri'chard calls his partners to solve the problem. They find out that the donor decided to donate his kidney to his sister instead of bone marrow to a stranger; that there is gene therapy available that the child in question can't have because a) he's under twelve, and b) sickle cell therapy is underfunded on account of mainly happening to black people; that there is a fetish site for people who get off on donating organs to hot women (this one gets nixed first).
In the end the gene therapy wins.
Tropes:
- Best Served Cold: Ri'Chard has been waiting something akin to thirty years to get revenge on Reddick's law firm after they refused to hire him in a particularly humiliating way. Subverted in that Liz impressed him and he has no further desire to destroy her father's legacy (the fact he did it on his own undoubtedly helps).
- Heads or Tails?: Carmen and Marissa flip a coin to find out who has to donate an egg to get the skin graft that gets the kidney that they need to get the bone marrow the kid needs.
- Wham Shot: The episode ends with a man falling from a higher window and getting crushed on a gargoyle outside Diane's office window.
