Sophia breaks her friend Lillian out of a retirement home that is worse than Shady Pines was. Meanwhile, Blanche decides to use her work bonus to have her breasts enlarged.

- A-Cup Angst: Blanche plans to undergo breast augmentation surgery with a bonus she received from work, even exclaiming, "What God didn't give me, Dr. Myron Rosenzweig will!", suggesting that she has some real insecurity about the size of her breasts. Eventually, she decides not to undergo the surgery and, in an unusual act of selflessness, donates the funds for it to help find Lillian a better nursing home.
- Bleak Abyss Retirement Home: Lillian was transferred to a place called Sunny Pastures, which Sophia describes as the bottom of the barrel where people get sent if they couldn't afford a place like Shady Pines. When Dorothy and Sophia go and visit Lillian, even Dorothy, who normally defends Shady Pines against Sophia's hyperbole, readily admits that what Sophia says about Sunny Pastures is true.
- Dorothy: Ma, you're exaggerating... but not by much.
- Rather surprisingly, the episode makes it clear that the state of Sunny Pastures is mainly because it doesn't have enough funding or supplies. From what's shown of the staff, they aren't abusive or negligent. The man who runs the place also shows that he's overworked and trying to do what he can to keep Sunny Pastures going.
- Esoteric Happy Ending: Invoked in-universe. While things work out for Lilian thanks to Blanche using her bonus to help pay for a better nursing home, Dorothy comments she doesn't feel better. Blanche figures this is because they know there are nursing homes out there which are worse than Sunny Pastures, and at some point all four of the women will have to face they may end up in a place like that one day.
