Tropes

  • Bald of Evil: Both of Tony's goons.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Tony, who acts as if he is deeply shocked about Dom being put in a coma, when in reality he is the culprit.
  • Breather Episode: Comes right after the "Red Death" arc.
  • Cosmic Retcon: Like Izzy Bowin and Janet Petty, Becky Sharpe was spared from DeVoe's wrath thanks to Crisis and is still alive in the new timeline. According to Becky's voice-over, her powers also no longer give other people bad luck post-Crisis, simply giving herself good luck without siphoning it from others.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: The team realizing that the refractor that is inverting Becky's powers is actually in her engagement ring.
  • Fourth Wall Psych: The beginning of the episode makes it looks like Becky is telling the audience how her life suddenly started going downhill...before it's revealed she's in a holding cell and explaining her case to Kramer.
  • Frame-Up: Tony framed Becky for his attempt of murdering Dom.
  • The Ghost: With his actor having left the show, Joe is only referenced to when Cecile talks to him on the phone.
  • Greed: After already having more than enough to pay off his debt, Tony still forces Becky to deal out more.
  • Grievous Bottley Harm: Becky smashes a liquor bottle on a goon's head.
  • Groin Attack: What Cecile does to one of the goons.
  • How Do I Shot Web?: Khione has a short montage of these, trying to activate her powers.
  • Internal Homage: Becky gives an opening voiceover introducing herself by name and calling herself “the Luckiest Woman Alive”, similar to the show’s original Opening Narration.
  • Leitmotif: After Becky's powers are restored, "Luck be a Lady" plays once more.
  • My Greatest Failure: Mark blames himself for being unable to tell Frost that he loved her before she died.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • Chester makes a quick Shout-Out to Mr. Freeze.
    • Tony says that Dom isn't just a gambler, he's the gambler. The Gambler is the alias of Becky Sharpe's father, Steven Sharpe, in the comics.
  • Oh, Crap!: Said verbatim when the fire extinguisher Cecile tried to throw at the two goons flies right back at herself and Allegra and explodes.
  • Orgy of Evidence: Kramer is suspicious of Becky being guilty as the crime scene was just too perfect and it was an anonymous tip leading them to her. The fact the woman is hardly a criminal mastermind adds to the idea someone is setting her up.
  • Out of Focus: Aside from going on a trip at the beginning and returning for a surprise baby shower, Barry and Iris don't appear throughout the episode. Instead, the focus is on Cecile.
  • Power Incontinence: Turns out Becky's bad luck didn't actually rub off on Cecile — her powers were wonky because of being overworked and worrying about being a bad mother to Jenna.
  • Shout-Out: After claiming Dom is "the gambler", Tony says that all he's missing is roast chicken.
  • Wham Line: Khione is neither a metahuman, nor a human.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Allegra encourages Cecile when the latter thinks that she is failing Jenna as a mom.
