- Nia mentions her mother's death from a spider bite, as seen in the Supergirl Season 4 episode "Blood Memory." She knows that she has to overcome her fear stemming from that tragedy in order to get through a creepy door that's covered in spider webbing.
- Iris refers to the mimosa brunches Ryan invited her to in "The Mask of the Red Death Part 2".
- Don't Think, Feel: The Aesop that convinces Iris to publish her article and allows Nia to regain her powers.
- "Eureka!" Moment: Nia realizes that Iris (in her dreams) warning her, saying "It's about control." is not about taking control, but giving up control.
- Flash Back: A brief clip of Nia using dream energy to stop a tsunami is shown, from the Supergirl Season 5 episode "Dangerous Liaisons."
- Good All Along: The creepy, hooded figure is actually the original Dreamer, and she was trying to guide Nia all along. In the end, Nia masters her powers to an even bigger degree thanks to her.
