Go To

Original Air Date (UK): Dec 4, 1990

Zordrak sends the Urpneys to capture Pildit to add to his statue collections, using 'The Hand of Zordrak'. Rufus, Amberley and Albert crash the Urpneys' Whirlyped then they do battle with a one-eyed sea monster while Albert overcomes his aquaphobia.

Tropes featured in the episode:

  • Asshole Victim: The sea monster, turned to stone by Zordrak.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: Apparently Zordrak had succeeded in petrifying Pildit's long lost relative and keeping him in his collection.
  • Brick Joke: The Dream Maker notes to himself that he should get his chimney cleaned. At the end of the episode, Frizz is tasked as chimney sweep as his comeuppance.
  • Cool and Unusual Punishment: The Dream Maker has the Urpneys serve time as his maids for all the trouble they caused. Granted, they expected a far less merciful comeuppance.
  • Degraded Boss: The Whirliped was a true force against Rufus and Pildit in the pilot. In this episode the Noops easily stop it with a deactivation switch located in clear view.
  • Enemy Mine: Defied. When Blob and Albert are left antagonised by a sea monster, Frizz and Nug build a device to fend them off. Rufus and Amberley however don't take to the strategy and knock them out, leaving Albert to defeat the monster single handed.
  • The Freelance Shame Squad: The Noops strand the Whirliped in the sea, where it gets attacked by a large monster. After what the Urpneys did to Pildit, the Noops have nothing against sitting back and enjoying the ordeal....until it turns on them too.
  • Ironic Fear: Albert, a dogfish, is afraid of water.
  • Kick the Dog:-fish, that is, after Albert tries to stop Blob taking the petrified Pildit away, Blob gives him a hard boot.
  • Oh, Crap!: Urpgor spends the entirety of Blob's mission gloating about his failure loudly to Zordrak. Then he realises it's making his master very very angry.
  • Skewed Priorities: The Noops gladly watch the sea monster attack the Urpney's ship, seemingly forgetting Pildit's stone body is still in there.
  • Taken for Granite: Zordrak's plan is to have this done to Pildit. The Urpneys succeed, though some setbacks give him time to change back. As a consolation, Zordrak petrifies the sea monster they fought instead.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: The Urpney trio are spared a nasty punishment after Zordrak takes to the sea monster as an alternative capture. For an extra bonus, the new statue crushes and injures Urpgor.
Frizz: I do love a happy ending. *knocked off his ladder*
  • Villainous Breakdown: Zordrak is on the verge of a volcanic one before events leave the sea monster literally fallen in his lap. With some thought, he decides it makes a decent consolation prize and calms down.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Albert, ironically, loathes water, and unintentionally helps pivot the plot by running away from a bath.
