Thunk gets struck by lightning and now all of a sudden he's a super-genius!
Tropes for this episode include:
- Anachronism Stew: Thunk managed to create indoor-plumbing with hot and cold running water.
- Awesome, but Impractical: Phil's solution to a leaky roof is to put a barrel under the leak to catch the water, something that would take great effort to empty out.
- "Flowers for Algernon" Syndrome: Thunk, normally the most dimwitted character on the show (if not the whole franchise) suddenly becomes so smart he's able to hold a conversation with Phil.
- Gentleman and a Scholar: Unlike the Insufferable Genius Phil, Thunk is nothing but humble and helpful as his intelligence improves the farm.
- Magical Camera: A variation. Gran seems to think that the act of doing her portrait means Ugga is trying to steal her soul.
- Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane: Both times Thunk gets struck by lightning, Thunk finds himself floating in a void, the lightning bolt that struck him speaking to him. Maybe Thunk is just having a dream and the electricity rewired his brain, or maybe the lightning is a higher being who overcorrects the damage it did by accident. Who knows?
- The Meaning of Life: Thunk had apparently figured out their purpose was, but he's struck by lightning and made back to his old dumb self before he can tell Phil.
- Out-of-Character Alert: When Thunk is seen walking for the sake of recreation, Guy, Eep, and Dawn immediately assume something is wrong. Then Ugga and Gran are shocked to see him paint beautiful and abstract paintings of a pineapple. Phil has a similar reaction when he finds Thunk voluntarily bathing. The real kicker is when he comes to dinner and eats LIGHT and then helps with the dishes.
- Out-of-Character Moment: Past episodes show that Phil makes for a very Sore Loser, but here he's positively jovial that he lost a game of Rock-Leaf-Sharp Rock.
- Too Dumb to Live: When the window gets blocked by a tree branch, Phil puts it off due to the danger of electrocution. Thunk decides to fix it and gets struck by lightning.
