"I Saw You" is the second episode of season 2 of The Chosen.
A mysterious visitor seeks to meet Jesus, but the disciples are hesitant. Tension builds between Simon and Matthew. As the group heads to a new city, word arrives that Jesus’ fame is growing.
This episode provides examples of:
- Crisis of Faith: Nathanial spends the episode in the midst of one, after an accident at his worksite gets him blacklisted from the architectural job he'd been working towards his whole life.
- Dropping the Bombshell: With a few words, Jesus reveals that he knows all about Nathaniel and his Crisis of Faith, despite having never met him in person before then.
- Drowning My Sorrows: Nathanial's response to losing his architecture career.
- Foreseeing My Death: In his campfire conversation with Philip, Jesus indicates that he is still thinking through how to talk about his upcoming death.Philip: If I didn't know any better, I'd say you each have a death wish.
Jesus: I wouldn't exactly call it a wish.
Philip: But a what? A death what?
Jesus: It's nothing. I'm still thinking through how to talk about it. - Jumped at the Call: Philip didn't even let Jesus finish calling him before accepting.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: When Philip visits Nathanael, his attempt to get Nathanael to meet Jesus is full of this. Even Nathanael says, "I've never heard you speak this way before."
- Only Known by Their Nickname: Philip had to apologize for not knowing who Thomas was; he relates that after all the months of traveling with John the Baptist, no one knew anyone else's name, just nicknames and aliases.
- Sleepy Head: Phillip can fall asleep anywhere, at the drop of a hat, which he attributes to having been on the run with John the Baptist and needing to be able to grab sleep when one can.
