- Birthday Episode: A variation; the celebration is of the founding of Care-a-Lot and the Care Bears Family, which is treated In-Universe as a birthday.
- Brick Joke: When Beastly arrives in Care-a-Lot, he realizes that No Heart never specified which colour Care Bear he wanted, and first thinks to get a pink one. Later, when Beastly returns to the castle with Hugs and Tugs (the former of whom is pink), No Heart mentions he hopes Beastly brought back a pink bear.
- The Cameo: There are brief, voiceless cameos from Secret Bear (who is The Voiceless anyway), Gentle Heart Lamb, Bright Heart Raccoon, and Playful Heart Monkey.
- Early-Installment Weirdness:
- Hugs and Tugs speak in a much more babyish way. Subsequent episodes gave them speech on par with the adult bears.
- Beastly is a much darker brown than later episodes.
