When John (Randall Duk Kim) learns his wife Sun-Hee (Youn Yuh Jung) will soon succumb to her pancreatic cancer, he risks everything to acquire a cure for her. Infiltrating Vought through his job as a janitor, he manages to procure a dose of Compound V.

This short contains examples of:

  • Asshole Victim: Deconstructed. The Vought mercenaries are obviously not meant to be sympathetic, seeing as they're willing to attack an elderly couple, one of which is terminally ill. John even lampshades this when Sun-Hee is horrified about her powers killing them, stating that if Sun-Hee hadn't fought back, they would be dead. Sun-Hee still thinks it wasn't okay and is traumatized by what Compound V has turned her into.
  • Ambiguous Ending: The short ends without a clear conclusion, but it strongly implies Sun-Hee is pulling a Heroic Sacrifice.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Attack of the 50 foot pancreatic cancer boil.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Sun-Hee intervenes just in time to save John from the cancer.
  • Bad People Abuse Animals: The first thing the cancer does after escaping Sun-Hee's body is ensnaring and consuming a bunch of forest animals, showcasing how dangerous and out of control it has become.
  • Bilingual Bonus: Sun-Hee's last words to her husband are entirely in Korean. Even before that, the two of them exchange some phrases in Korean here and there.
    • Her last words in English: "It's okay. Don't forget to eat on time. Don't skip meals just because I'm not there."
  • Bittersweet Ending: Sun-Hee shares a final heartfelt good-bye with her husband before facing off with the mutated cancer.
  • Close on Title: The short's title isn't shown until the very end.
  • Combat Tentacles: At first Sun-Hee's powers seem to manifest as gelatinous tentacles coming out of her belly, slaughtering anybody who poses a threat to her and John. It later turns out that the tentacles belonged to the cancer, while Sun-Hee's own powers are more psychic in nature.
  • *Crack!* "Oh, My Back!": John uses this as an excuse to lure a guard to a secluded area: he pretends that his arthritis is preventing him from turning the tap in the janitor's closet and asks the guard to help, who complies. Cue John knocking him out and stealing his key card.
  • Darker and Edgier: While the previous shorts had some tearjerking moments, they were mostly played for dark comedy and never taken one hundred percent seriously. This short's story is an emotional kick in the teeth from start to finish, providing not a single moment of levity or humor and starts and ends on an incredibly tragic note.
  • Eldritch Abomination: The cancer grows into its own sentient being after Sun-Hee is injected with Compound V, tears out of her body and goes on a rampage through the forest.
  • Eyes Always Shut: Part of Sun-Hee's design, even in the photos.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Sun-Hee sacrifices herself to stop the mutated cancer.
  • Hope Spot: Sun-Hee's newly awakened powers allow her and John to escape from the hospital when Vought comes knocking and they even make it into the woods with a stolen vehicle. But just as it seems they're in the clear, the cancer mutates and rips out of Sun-Hee's body.
  • Justified Criminal: John commits some serious crimes in the short, as he not only steals Compound V, but also knocks out and imprisons a guard to get at his key card. However, all of this is done in an attempt to save his dying wife and it's clear that John never would have resorted to this if he wasn't so desperate.
  • Kick the Dog: The Vought-goons sent to retrieve the Compound V John stole. Not only do they needlessly brutalize John, after seeing that Sun-Hee has already been injected with Compound V they attempt to murder her, right in front of John's eyes, while he's begging them to stop.
  • The Topic of Cancer: The plot kicks off due to Sun-Hee dying out of cancer and driving John into the most desperate steps to save her. Then the cancer itself turns into all-devouring blob monster that only grows bigger and bigger, consuming everything on its wake.
  • Vorpal Pillow: When seeing that Sun-Hee has pancreatic cancer, the Vought-operative orders one of his goons to make her death "look natural". The man takes her pillow and attempts to suffocate her with it. He nearly succeeds before Sun-Hee's powers start kicking in and throw him off of her.
