Recap / The Bold Type S 3 E 9 Final Push

Go To

Kat begins to doubt herself on the eve of her election; Jane and Jacqueline discover that Pamela Dolan is playing dirty; Sutton coaches Oliver's daughter through a difficult situation at school.

The episode picks up directly where last week left off, with Kat and Adena on a walk in the park. Adena opens up to Kat on what happened between them in Paris, telling her — finally — she believes it was a mistake.

Kat is left confused between the lack of closure with Adena, and ponders if she should continue her blossoming relationship with Tia or reunite with Adena. Kat decides to put off the decision until after the election. But her nerves only grow worse when Jacqueline approaches her about replacements for Social Media Director at Scarlet, with the heartwrenching comment “it’s not easy replacing family Kat” that sent both our favorite politician and audiences everywhere to the fashion closet for a good cry.

Jane and Jacqueline make their move to confront Pamela Dolan, and she’s as stony as the reputation that’s been given to us all season would suggest. She calmly declines to comment on any of the claims of the models. Jacqueline is suspicious, believing she has something up her sleeve.

And so Pamela does: she throws out a tip to the American Star to cast an ill light on the models, so it seems like they’re doing it for publicity. And with the article due for September, Jacqueline and Jane are in a time crunch.

In the Fashion Closet Kat and Jane listen to Pinstripe's interview on NPR which stresses Jane out. Sutton walks in unsure what is bothering Carlie.

Tropes Used:

  • Psycho Lesbian: Pamela Dolan is ambiguously gay but she hits on Jane in Jacqueline's office. She is also accused of physically and mentally abusing models in a psycho-sexual way.
  • Shaking the Rump: Jane is doing a sexy dance for her boyfriend via a video call when her roommate Alex walks in just as she's shaking her butt.
  • You Can Leave Your Hat On: As stated in the "Shaking the Rump Trope" Jane turns on some sensual music and starts to dance for her boyfriend via a video call.
