Tropes

  • Actor Allusion: Or rather, producer allusion. Sheldon mentions that one of his favorite cartoon theme songs is for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987), which was co-written by Chuck Lorre.
  • Answer Cut: Howard needs to learn about fishing from someone more rugged and manly than him and his friends; cut to the guys at Penny's apartment.
  • Comedic Spanking: After finding out that Amy was faking her sickness after she got back to full health, he decides to punish her by spanking. Sheldon, being Sheldon, is completely oblivious to the sexual undertones of it, while Amy is completely enjoying it.
  • Fishing Episode: Bernadette makes Howard go fishing with Mike so they can bond. Turns out Mike doesn't want to go fishing any more than Howard does and is only doing it to please his wife. The two end up going to a casino instead.
  • Henpecked Husband: Turns out Howard and Mike are only going fishing because their wives told them so.
  • Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy: Penny To Raj, Leonard and Howard.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Given how much of a germaphobe Sheldon is, the fact that he willingly stays by Amy's side to take care of her during her illness is a sign of how much he cares about her.
  • Playing Sick: Amy enjoys having Sheldon take care of her so much she pretends to still be sick some days after she recovered.
  • Sick Episode: Amy has the flu and asks Sheldon to take care of her.
