Plot
When Sheldon helps Bert, he tries to hide his growing interest in Geology. Meanwhile, Penny and Bernadette try to help Raj with his new girlfriend.
Tropes:
- Bait-and-Switch: Raj needs help being less clingy with his new love interest, so Penny suggests putting a rubber band around his wrist. He can use it to slow the bleeding when he stabs himself with a fork to deter himself from planning their wedding.
- Bilingual Bonus: Played for laughs. Ruchi yells something in Hindi at the cricket match on tv. Howard asks what she said, and Raj repeats it in Hindi.
- Call-Back: Sheldon's secret love affair with geology is back.
- Crush Filter: While listening to Ruchi talk about her day (which involved disgusting things like analyzing pus), Raj slips into romantic mode, picturing the wind blowing her hair and wrap while "Almost Paradise" plays. It's parodied at the end when Sheldon, who got rejected by Bert after the latter realized he was ashamed of geology, pictures the wind tousling Bert's beard and lab coat while "Almost Paradise" plays.
- Shout-Out: Raj has been convinced there are soulmates by watching Kate Hudson meeting hers at least twenty times.
- Take That!: Sheldon finds geology really embarrassing.
- Unusual Euphemism: Sheldon is uncomfortable admitting to wanting to do geology, so he codenames it g-ology.
