- Chained Heat: Paddington and Mr. Curry each get one of their fingers stuck in a Chinese finger trap, keeping them effectively stuck together for the rest of the episode.
- Failed Audition Plot: No matter how many times Mr. Curry gets turned down for a role in the annual play, he always tries auditioning again the next year.
- Hopeless Auditionees: Mr. Curry is clearly terrible at acting. Luckily, thanks to Paddington and his antics, his performance was interpreted as a comedy and he actually got the part.
- The Power of Friendship: The finger trap finally releases Paddington and Mr. Curry’s fingers as soon as they become friends.Mr. Gruber: The harder you pull apart, the tighter it becomes. To release it, you have to push it closer together - which seems like exactly what you two have done today.
- Reveal Shot: The camera is zoomed in on Paddington helping Mr. Curry brush his teeth, and the bear says “There, that wasn’t so bad, was it?” The camera then zooms out to reveal the bathroom completely wrecked.
- Tough Room: Mateo says “tough crowd!” after he gets an unimpressed response to his clearly complicated audition.
