Recap / The 100 Girlfriends Who Really Really Really Really Really Love You Ch 161

Go To

Nano invites Mimimi to their junior high's cultural festival, a venture that Mimimi readily agrees to.

After exploring the festival (including a fortune teller that is right on the money regarding their love life with Rentarou), they stop at the photography club's display. Mimimi enjoys looking at the images, but notices that Nano is fixated on a particular one - the moment that she snubbed Mimimi's offer of friendship after defeating her in the beauty pageant.

Mimimi wonders if the rest of her junior high life would have been similar to her life now if Nano had taken her hand back then. When the two of them are sitting in the audience for that year's pageant, Mimimi "ends" her friendship with Nano and challenges her to another duel in the pageant. Nano agrees.

Mimimi struts her stuff, and Nano understands that she has to give it her all as well - doing otherwise would trample on Mimimi's feelings. Of course, her idea of "giving it her all" entails a simple V-Sign, but the audience is impressed nonetheless.

The free time segment allows the contestants to use every means available to show off, and for Mimimi, that also includes Nano's beauty. The combined poses of the two wow the audience. In fact, when the time comes to announce the winner, it's revealed to be a draw between them.

Mimimi isn't entirely surprised; the defeat she suffered back then only spurred her to push her beauty to even greater heights. If anything, she feels she ought to be thanking Nano for her actions back then. That was part of the reason she challenged Nano in the first place. For the last strike to Nano's guilt, she extends her hand to Nano once more, saying that the best way to push their beauty even further would be to do it as friends.

Nano agrees, accepting Mimimi's hand. Mimimi is struck by Nano's small, but beautiful smile. When Nano asks what's wrong, Mimimi tries to play it off as being concerned that their beauty is too much for the audience.

As it turns out, the sight has actually blinded the audience. Whoops.

Tropes:

  • Relationship Reboot: Though they had already reconciled at the end of her introductory arc, Mimimi challenges Nano to a re-do of the beauty pageant where they first met when she realizes that Nano feels guilty over how she had handled it, to the point of "ending" their friendship.
  • So Beautiful, It's a Curse: Played for Laughs. The sight of Mimimi and Nano renewing their friendship is so beautiful that it ends up blinding the audience.
