Recap / The 100 Girlfriends Who Really Really Really Really Really Love You Ch 126

Go To

The chapter opens with Uncle Hiro begging Rentarou to take Chiyo on a date before cutting to the latter two arriving at an indoor amusement park. The park's name (Adult Theme Park) immediately has them concerned.

The lights are dim on the inside to simulate nighttime. There are various couples having romantic moments on the various benches. Two mascots show up and give them bangles to wear on their wrists. They warn Rentarou and Chiyo to stay close together (outside of the restroom or changing area) or they'll go boom.

That is to say, the bangles will play a loud, booming noise.

Chiyo is irritated that her father sent them there, and suggests they leave. Rentarou says he doesn't mind, resulting in Chiyo deciding to stay as well. They try the merry-go-round first, and while it seems normal at the start, the mounts soon start jumping faster. The couples around them start flirting. Chiyo is annoyed, but Rentarou breaks the awkward atmosphere by acting like a cowboy.

The teacup ride similarly starts normally, but ends up flinging Chiyo into Rentarou. She's embarrassed, but Rentarou pulls out medicine for motion sickness. At the haunted house, they're prompted to hide in a locker just big enough for them to be pressed against each other. The couples in the other lockers start getting handsy with each other. Just as Chiyo starts to worry that Rentarou will get swept up in things as well, he makes a Declaration of Protection to her while shaking.

The next attraction is a maze filled with several dead ends, most of which are filled with kissing couples. When they finally find an empty one, Rentarou attempts to simply destroy the wall. The roller coaster leaves both of them soaking wet and Chiyo's clothes are now see through. Luckily, there's a drier service and a place to borrow clothes for just the occasion.

The worker suggests they head to the ferris wheel, which was already next on their list. The gondolas are made of one-way glass to ensure privacy. The inside of the gondola has a romantic atmosphere, which makes Chiyo feel embarrassed before she notices how much Rentarou has been doing his best to make her feel comfortable. Rentarou also finds the place uncomfortable, but knows he needs to take care of Chiyo.

The final attraction is a small train ride to a nearby lighthouse. Rentarou is wowed by the view, but Chiyo is confused as to why the view seems familiar. She then remembers that there's a picture of her parents at the same location. She has a brief flashback to her mother revealing that that was where she and Uncle Hiro shared their first kiss.

Though tempted, she decides against it, considering how many people are around. Rentarou realizes what's going on and distracts the other couples so that he and Chiyo can share a kiss in private.

Chiyo remembers her mother telling her that her father did something similar. She agrees with her mother that her father is hopeless, but her mother tells her that he's always been there for her, and he's her number one. Chiyo thinks to herself that she's also found her number one.

The two return home, where Uncle Hiro is eagerly awaiting to hear how it went. Though exasperated, Chiyo notes that she loves Rentarou more than ever now, so she thanks her father for the tickets. Uncle Hiro begins crying Tears of Joy and declares Chiyo the real main heroine, prompting an "RRRGH" from Chiyo as the chapter ends.

Tropes:

  • Abilene Paradox: Neither Chiyo nor Rentarou enjoys the Adult Theme Park all that much, but they both assume the other one is enjoying themselves, so they decide to stay.
  • Don't Come A-Knockin': Implied. When the chapter cuts to the outside of Rentarou and Chiyo's gondola, the other gondolas are shaking.
  • Ferris Wheel Date Moment: The second-to-last stop on the date.
  • Shout-Out: Frustrated by their inability to find the maze's exit, Rentarou decides to go Armored Titan make a new one. Chiyo only barely manages to hold him back.
