Tropes

  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: Rex-1 saves April from being arrested by security guards. And these are the charges he recites:
Rex-1: (holding the guards) You are charged for disturbing the peace...
Fat guard: Put us down, you hunk of tin!
    Rex-1: ...resisting arrest...
Thin guard: You ain't never gettin' away with this!
Rex-1: ...and using a double negative. (throws them to the wall)
  • Brick Joke: When the Turtles climb the Channel 6 building to get Vernon, Michelangelo says they should have taken the elevator. Later, when the Turtles take Vernon home:
Vernon: This time, let's take the elevator. Please?
  • Exact Words:
April: You drop that couch, this instant!
Burglar: Good idea, doll. (throws the couch out the window) Saves me taking the stairs.
April: (hears noise) The security guards!
    Rex-1: Are you in danger?
April: Just stay still, and hold your tongue!
Rex-1: (sticks his robot tongue out and holds it) Whatever you say.
  • It's All My Fault: April blames herself for Rex's damage, for reporting about him and giving Shredder the idea to create an army of clones. Subverted as Shredder, having already known about the plans to create Rex, was already planning to build his clone army, but April didn't know that.
Splinter: This is Shredder's doing, not yours.
  • Plot Hole: The turtles drive the Turtle Van into the East River and emerge without it. In the next scene, April is seen driving it. Huh? Did it somehow make it into the sewer from the river? Did they have a spare?
  • Robosexual: Erma can't help but swoon when she meets Rex-1, citing his masculine physique and loyalty as admirable qualities. At the end of the episode, Erma winds up taking him to the movies.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Undying Loyalty: Rex-1 to April, since she's his controller.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Bebop and Rocksteady disappear halfway through the episode. Last seen when Shredder watches April's report on Rex-1.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: "Your usefulness is over, Rex-1! You must be destroyed!"
