Recap / Teen Titans Go S 6 E 43 BBRAEBDAY

Go To

The other Titans learn that Beast Boy's birthday is also the day that Trigon implanted demonic powers into Raven, so they decide to go to Azaroth and celebrate her "Sinister Sixteen".

  • Alpha Bitch: The moment that Raven arrives in Azaroth, she starts acting bratty over the smallest of issues, like the color of the dress she's forced to wear. It turns out to be due to her demon side having a greater influence.
  • Birthday Episode: The episode starts with celebrating Beast Boy's, and then transitions to celebrating Raven's.
  • The Cameo: Raven's demon family, which arrive to celebrate her birthday, include the three demon brothers from "Cool Uncles".
  • Forced Transformation: When Raven's demon side turns her into an Alpha Bitch and she complains about not receiving a Pretty Pegasus toy, Trigon tries to satiate her by transforming one of her relatives into one. She's still upset and decides to fry it. At the end of the episode, Robin is also stuck in the form of a bicycle.
  • Freeze-Frame Ending: The episode appears to end with one, with Beast Boy and his new Robin-bike frozen in the sky, before quickly cutting back to the other Titans wondering how he froze like that.
  • Selfless Wish: The main reason the other Titans agree to Trigon's request that they celebrate Raven's "Sinister Sixteen" is because any birthday wish made there will come true, and it's also Beast Boy's birthday. Despite Beast Boy wanting to be reunited with a lost bicycle, it seems that he ends up using his wish to undo all of the damage caused by Raven's demon side....and it's then subverted with the reveal that he also wished to transform Robin into his bicycle on top of that.
  • Shout-Out: The episode ends with Beast Boy and his new Robin-bike silhouetted against the moon, like the iconic scene from E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.
  • Touch of Death: One of Raven's uncles is a grim reaper that keeps accidentally killing Robin whenever they touch hands.
