Recap / Teen Titans Go S 4 E 23 Jinxed

Go To

Robin ignores the rules for a game of jinx and ends up losing his voice.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Bait-and-Switch: After Robin loses his voice, the Titans become shocked that he will never talk again...and celebrate that they don't have to listen to his loud voice.
  • Captain Obvious Reveal: The one behind the whole game of jinx is, well, Jinx.
  • Here We Go Again!: In the ending, The Titans jinx Robin again after getting annoyed with yet another lecture from him.
  • Lampshade Hanging: The Titans discussing how Jinx is the one who holds all the voices lost to jinxes is ridiculously literal lampshades the show's tendency towards The Cuckoolander Was Right plots.
  • No Indoor Voice: Robin prefers to communicate to the Titans with loud words and yelling to get do what he says. This is what led them to jinx him.
  • Rage Breaking Point: After the Titans poke fun at Robin getting jinxed, Robin then snaps and yells at the Titans, thus breaking the rules of jinx.
  • Shout-Out: The sequence of Robin losing his voice directly alludes to The Little Mermaid (1989). Scuttle, Sebastian, and Flounder show up on the rock outside the Tower to drive the reference home.
  • The Speechless: Robin temporarily becomes this after losing his voice for breaking the rules of jinx.
  • Violence is the Only Option: Robin learns that after losing his voice, he uses violence to get the Titans to listen to him.
  • The Voiceless: The Titans invoke this on Robin in a game of jinx just to avoid hearing his yelling.
