The Titans are turned into old people by Mad Mod. Raven's thrilled, due to loving the elderly, but the other Titans are salty about it.
"Salty Codgers" exhibits these Tropes:
- Art Shift: Mad Mod pulls the Titans into a dimension based on pop art from his era during a chase sequence.
- Asshole Victim: The three teenagers who mocked Mad Mod for being old were the first to fall victim to his youth-stealing power, making their fate rather karmic.
- Came Back Wrong: The Titans are revived by Death - as zombies. Cyborg's grandkids are terrified, but Raven doesn't mind, as the elderly and undeath are her two favorite things.
- Did You Just Scam Cthulhu?: Raven offers her soul in exchange for the lives of her friends… and freely admits she doesn’t have one due to being half-demon.
- False Teeth Tomfoolery: Robin has his dentures come out for a gag after the Titans sans Raven become senior citizens.
- Gross-Up Close-Up: There are a couple of shots showing disturbingly detailed close-ups of Mad Mod's rapidly aging victims.
- Karma Houdini: Despite causing their Rapid Aging, Mad Mod isn't seen again after doing so, and thus never punished for stealing the youth of the non-Raven Titans and other Jump City citizens.
- Gilligan Cut: Realizing that Beast Boy has passed away of old age, Raven realizes that she must spend every precious moment that she can with the other Titans. Cue an immediate Time Skip to 45 minutes later, and Raven's standing at their graves.
- Ironic Echo: "The tower's never been this quiet."
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Raven has a chance to grab Mad Mod's cane and stop his plans, but she instead willingly knocks it to Mad Mod just because she thinks elderly people are precious, leading him to age the other Titans. She regrets it when Beast Boy dies of old age, followed by the others forty-five minutes later.
- Nightmare Fetishist: When Raven gets her friends' souls back only to see that they're zombies now, she still sees this as a victory because she finds the undead just as adorable as the elderly.
- Rapid Aging: The Titans other than Raven become elderly, as do multiple other civilians, due to Mad Mod stealing their youth. The Titans are rendered so elderly that they die from old age within hours.
- Rule of Funny: Cyborg has grandchildren despite his old age being artificially induced and not having any children to be the parents of his grandchildren.
- Title Drop: After the other Titans all die of old age, Raven digs graves for them, saying "Rest in peace, you salty codgers."
- Voodoo Shark: Lampshaded when Cyborg finds that he now has grandchildren after growing old in spite of not even having children prior to his aging. Raven states that “nobody knows” when asked where they came from.
