Recap / Teen Titans Go S 2 E 38 Oil Drums

Go To

Cyborg wants to watch some '80s television shows on VHS, specifically The A-Team, but the TV remote has gone missing and the Titans can't figure out the buttons built into the TV.

  • Anthropomorphic Personification: The day is saved by TV, as in a television with arms and legs that represents watching television in general, breaking into Titan Tower to defend Cyborg from the Titan zombies and then help him retrieve the remote from kidnappers in an '80s-style action sequence.
  • Bait-and-Switch: Initially, Robin believes that television will rot your brain, and sees the loss of their remote as the chance to enrich themselves. It then turns out that not watching television is what rots brains, with everyone but Cyborg turning into zombies moaning about going outside and taking French classes.
  • Freeze-Frame Ending: The episode ends with the Titans doing this to celebrate the remote being returned and starting an eighteen-hour television marathon.
  • Rooting for the Empire: In-Universe, Robin is shown to be a fan of ALF, but is rooting for Alf to find and eat the cat.
  • Shout-Out: The Titans reference various '80s television shows, with Cyborg even quoting The A-Team when he finds a temporary solution to the Titans' rotting brains and states "I love it when a plan comes together".
