After Robin gloats about the power of his staff, the other Titans decide to borrow it, and end up breaking it apart.
Tropes:
- Bad Boss: Robin is this simply by hurting his fellow teammates with his staff at the very beginning.
- Berserk Button: Robin can't handle his staff being called just a stick, pounding the Titans with it when they refer to it incorrectly.
- Big "WHAT?!": Robin lets out one of these when he finds out his staff has been destroyed by the Titans.
- Companion Cube: Robin tends to treat his staff as a real person, talking to it like one, much to the other Titans' concern. And during his No-Holds-Barred Beatdown on the other Titans after they keep calling it a stick, he outright calls the staff his best friend, much to Cyborg's dismay.
- Didn't Think This Through: The staff ends up broken because the other Titans were fighting over whose turn it was to borrow it, and Beast Boy thought it was a good idea to snap it apart into one piece for each of them.
- Drowning My Sorrows: Robin eats ice cream in his closet while bawling over his broken staff.
- Hallucinations: Robin is convinced that his old staff talks to him in a way that nobody else can hear.
- It Was with You All Along: Upon being reached, the Universe Tree tries to impart this lesson to Robin, who had found and made use of an ordinary stick in order to reach his destination. Robin thinks that's bogus, as the stick has bird poop stains and the Universe Tree is magic, so he goes through with his plan to cut it down and turn it into a new staff.
- Literal Metaphor: Robin's idea of a "staff meeting" is beating the other Titans with his staff in order to punish them for poor performance. He also sites that they've been enacting too much horseplay, at which point it pans to Beast Boy transformed into a horse.
- Status Quo Is God: Despite making a new, talking staff out of the Universe Tree, Robin immediately discards it and returns to using his old staff after the other Titans are able to fix it, leading Beast Boy to turn the new, sentient staff into a toilet plunger.
- World Tree: Raven decides to help Robin by guiding Robin to the Universe Tree, so he can carve a new staff from one of its branches. It turns out to be sentient, and when it tries to convince Robin It Was with You All Along, it ends up ignored and cut apart with a chainsaw, then reincarnated into Robin's new staff.
