"Aftermath"

To convince the Cloud 9 CEO to come to their store, Dina and Glenn film a documentary about the employees' experience with the tornado that devastated the building. Meanwhile, Amy tries to talk to Jonah about their kiss.

Tropes:

  • Amateur Film-Making Plot: Dina and Glenn try to make a documentary about the Cloud 9 employees' experience with the tornado. It actually comes out pretty well, despite the employees' apathy.
  • Brick Joke: In one of the transition scenes, a customer leaves a tub of ice cream in the electronics aisle. Near the end of the episode, an employee finds it melting everywhere and just leaves it.
  • Comically Missing the Point:
    • When Dina and Glenn are disappointed that the group photo doesn't look as inspirational as the show CNN Heroes, Garrett remarks in exasperation that it's just a still photo, not a TV show. Not getting his point that the CEO coming over isn't a big deal, Glenn and Dina decide to create a TV show instead.
    • When filming Cheyenne's first person account of the tornado, Dina tells Cheyenne to convincingly act like she thought she was going to die. Cheyenne instead plays out a scene where she is dying.
  • Double-Meaning Title: The title refers to the aftermath of the tornado that's explored in Dina and Glenn's plot, as well as the aftermath of Jonah and Amy's kiss and Amy's pregnancy in general.
  • Easily-Overheard Conversation: When Amy tells Adam that she's pregnant, Amy's current boyfriend Alex happens to overhear and walk in, asking, "Who's pregnant?"
  • Good Girls Avoid Abortion: Discussed when Bo congratulates the pregnant Amy on not getting "scooped out."
    Bo: Choose life, y'all? Whassup!
  • Idiotic Partner Confession: Adam comes in to talk to Amy, not knowing that Amy is pregnant. Amy doesn't want to bring it up during work. Cue Bo dropping by to tell Amy about the baby stuff he gave her for her pregnancy. Sarcastically lampshaded by Jonah:
Jonah: That guy's got great timing.
  • Serious Business: Glenn and Dina take a potential visit from the CEO very seriously, getting excited over him as if he's a celebrity and going to drastic measures to make the store look good for him, while nobody else in the store really cares.
  • Shout-Out: Glenn and Dina want the crew photo to look as inspirational as the tribute show CNN Heroes.
  • Thought They Knew Already: Downplayed. When Adam walks in to talk to Amy, Jonah gives him congratulations. Adam responds, "Thanks. Congratulations on what?" This clues Jonah in that Adam doesn't know that Amy's pregnant with Adam's baby. The two of them don't tell Adam, but Bo walks by and blurts out that Amy's pregnant in front of them all.
