After Jared's finally had enough of being disrespected and called a "failure", he winds up injuring the Warden and knocking him unconscious. Seeing it as his opportunity to rule the jail the way he wants, Jared decides to put forth his own plan for a computer room—- which quickly causes things to become even more chaotic when the power to the Doctor's laboratory is cut, causing his mutants to roam free.

It's now up to Jared and the Doctor to set things right, while the Warden is stuck reliving the past in his mind.

"Superfail" contains examples of:

  • A Day in the Limelight: For Jared and the Doctor.
  • Bee Afraid: Giant bees with gorilla heads and human arms, that is.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Jared and the Doctor are the ones to take on the role this time around.
  • Bland-Name Product: Instead of Livestream, Superjail has "Jailstream".
  • Censor Box: A huge one with a bold red "CENSORED" caption on it appears when the guard dogs tear apart an inmate, within the Warden's flashbacks. There was actually carnage drawn underneath, but Williams Street S&P ordered the crew to place that box on the scene practically last-minute when it was sent over as the censors felt it TOO gory. An uncensored version of the scene was briefly available on the layout artist's DeviantArt account, but Adult Swim's legal team ordered it taken down. The DVD uses the censored edit of the episode.
    • Another appears while Alice is videotaping herself wrestling with Sweet Cheeks, as her bulge was drawn too big for the censors' comfort. As with the above scene, it's still censored on the DVD (as it was the broadcast version of the episode that was supplied, and not the pre-censored version). Sweet Cheeks' own bulge in his workout clothes gets the same censor box treatment.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Nicky and another inmate remain oblivious to the carnage going on around them, with the former mistaking fluid from an eye that sprays on him for something else.
  • Continuity Nod: The Warden troopers from "Time-Police" now appear to exist in the current timeline, and are attack robots that can be controlled (as opposed to their ambiguously human nature before).
    • The Mrs Whatsit-type creature appears again, but there's now more where they came from.
  • Cuteness Proximity: During the mutant bloodbath, the inmates see an adorable kitten and coo over it- until it turns out to be the cat-shaped tongue of another mutant, who proceeds to devour them.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: The inmates in the computer lab are too busy looking at porn to notice the carnage going on outside. Even when the mutants attack them, the other inmates are still distracted (especially Nicky). Even Jailbot gets in on the activity, by looking at photos of new copiers.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: Jailbot's computer has a "KILLS" folder, as well as a folder just for the Warden.
    • In Warden's desk drawer, there's a Lord Stingray voodoo doll that can be seen in the back, but it's a quick glimpse and the doll is completely colored in orange with the rest of the objects inside.
    • A tiny green fish resembling the Doctor can be seen swimming in the pipes at the jail, in a panning shot.
    • The inmates watching Alice's jailstream are "AngryDragon27", "LemonPartyPig", "BeefxXxCurtain", "DaisyChainTrain", ""RedPanda91", "xXSmallFingerXx", "Krispy..Lipstick2", and "HOORay4BOOtay", the last of which is Gary. A number of these names are sexual slang as well and a case of getting some things past censors.
    • In the pre-credits sequence, the TV channel that Jacknife is watching is WXBX, which shares its name with that of an oldies radio station in Virginia. The channel itself is broadcasting from Watuppa, placing it in Massachusetts.
  • Funny Background Event: Aside from the numerous Mrs Whatsit-inspired creatures that fly through the sky, there's one odd-looking purple creature that doesn't quite fit in with the rest.
  • Kick the Dog: Or in this case, Prison Mogul ordering the child Warden to chop the dog's head off with an axe.
  • Mix-and-Match Critters: As it's the Doctor's specialty, all of the escaped mutants are some sort of strange hybrid.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Jared, after he realizes the consequences of installing the computer lab.
  • Stock Footage: The background with the cat-shaped building was recycled from "Sticky Discharge", which was the first episode to be produced although it was aired after this one.
    • The explosions from "Sticky Discharge" are also recycled for the opening sequence, when Jacknife's stolen car sets some people on fire and causes a huge explosion that kills them all.
    • Several of the women that march by in Jacknife in his dream are duplicated character models with the same animation.
    • Alice's avatar used for her Jailstream account is her character model from the end of "Hot Chick", with her wearing the short gray dress.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: For Jared.
  • Troubled Backstory Flashback: The Warden experiences a few brief flashbacks when he's first injured in the fall, but then winds up reliving an entire one when he's unconscious. It starts out with him finding a neglected puppy, and escalates to his father ordering him to kill the puppy with an axe, as he reasons that the Warden showing the puppy kindness had ruined its potential to be a perfect guard dog.
