Go To

Brainy and Nia have to figure out a way to set the timeline right.

Tropes:

  • Been There, Shaped History: Nia talking her into it is what causes Cat to quit the Daily Planet and start her own company. She even changes her nickname from CJ to Cat thanks to her.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Twice by Kara, first right at the start of the episode to rescue Brainy and Nia and again after recovering from the Kryptonite so she can rescue Kenny.
  • Dirty Coward: Tork and Mitch are quick to run when the odds are against them.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Kenny claims to be a Kryptonian so Tork will grab him, as Kara isn't able to fight back currently.
  • Honking Arriving Car: Kara and Kenny Li have a conversation in which Kara reveals her decision to attend college in National City. When a car horn honks outside the high school, indicating Alex is there to pick them up, they slowly walk out of the gym.
  • Immediate Sequel: To "Prom Night".
  • Internal Reveal: Kara (after some initial interruptions) finally manages to tell Kenny that she is going to National City.
  • It's All My Fault: Nia still beats herself up over not being able to interpret her dreams.
  • Jerkass Realization: Alex apologizes to Kara for being so hard on her.
  • Never the Selves Shall Meet: Brainy is afraid of Kara meeting herself after she stows away.
  • Next Tier Power-Up: Nia gains the ability to manifest her dreams as reality, in this case conjuring up the pink cougar to chase Tork and Mitch.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: In the initial timeline, the heroes accidentally set free a bunch of dangerous aliens and reveal Kara's identity to the world.
  • Oh, Crap!: Nia and Brainy when they realize the timeline has been changed.
  • Red Herring: The Cougar dream was never about Tork and Mitch, but about Cat Grant.
  • The Reveal: Nia's dreams were leading her to Cat Grant. The cage has the initials P.W. (Perry White) and the pink cougar is Cat. The point was to talk her into striking out on her own (i.e. escaping the cage) and eventually becoming the media mogul they know in the present.
  • Running Gag: Cat once again gets somebodys name wrong, calling Kenny "Kendall". She later also calls Kara "Keera" again.
  • Series Continuity Error: It could be walled off due to Crisis, but...in the first season it was implied that Cat Grant started up CatCo at least two decades before the events, especially since she had an illegitimate son at the time who'd be Kara's age by now. Here, she still works for Perry White around 2007, before finally quitting and starting CatCo.
  • Set Right What Once Went Wrong: After the timeline is royally twisted thanks to Cat's interference, Brainy and Nia travel back a few hours, joined by Kara hitchhiking without their knowledge, and steer her into becoming the woman she's supposed to be instead of continuing her investigation.
  • She Cleans Up Nicely: Brainy is stunned at how beautiful Nia looks in a dress.
  • Skewed Priorities: Even when being captured by aliens, Cat's first priority is trying to finish her story.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Cat Grant's investigation leads her to Tork's ship, which she unlocks before it can auto-launch and alert the DEO, which would have let to Tork's arrest. Tork immediately goes back to hunting Kara at Midvale High, interrupting the shower of debris from Kara punching the meteor apart, thereby costing Brainy and Nia the sample of Kara's blood. Events spiral out of control to Kara's eventual ouster as a super-powered being, requiring Brainy and Nia to time travel again to set things right.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Cat is quick to disabuse Kenny of the notion of being useless. Nia later talks her into leaving Perry White and the gossip column, telling her that Cat Grant is meant for greater things.
