While Oscar helps Hedgehog find her wand, Susie tries to convince the Meeting of the Minds that Hedgehog isn't responsible enough for magic.

- Crazy Enough to Work: Oscar's plan to get Hedgehog and himself past Stuart and into the Meeting of the Minds is to disguise himself as a chef, Hedgehog as a salad, and bring her in under a food tray as a catered meal. Despite Hedgehog's disbelief, it works perfectly.
- Deus ex Machina: Hedgehog is saved from being banned from learning magic at the last second by Ramona, who was video-ing into the meeting from her location and only made her presence known at that point. However, Ramona rules that while Hedgehog can learn magic again, she isn't ready for her wand yet and has to start her training from the beginning, with Susie as her teacher this time.
- Freudian Excuse: It turns out part of the reason why Susie is strongly against teaching magic to someone new is because of someone she used to know named Mildred. Mildred, apparently much like Hedgehog, had great talent for magic but no patience, and told to rein herself in instead caused a huge magical ruckus in town before fleeing into the woods. Mildred is later revealed to have been Susie’s younger sister; it was Susie who caused Mildred to rampage and then run away forever.
- Immediate Sequel: This episode picks up right after "The Library", with Hedgehog chasing Susie to get her wand back.
- Not Helping Your Case: With Susie's main argument being that Hedgehog is too young and irresponsible to properly handle magic, Hedgehog sneaking into the meeting disguised as a salad and immediately demanding her want back once she gets there doesn't make her look good. In fact, that's what convinces Barb to hand over her key after previously speaking up for Hedgehog earlier.
- Pyrrhic Victory: Both Hedgehog and Susie get what they wanted, but in a way that neither side is completely happy about it. Hedgehog gets to study magic, but she can't get her wand back yet; and Susie gets the wand locked away, but now she has to be the one to teach Hedgehog (which causes both to groan loudly).
- Room Disservice: Oscar and Hedgehog enter the Meeting of the Minds by posing as a chef delivering a salad to the meeting, with Hedgehog under the tureen in a salad costume.
