Mario and Luigi have ventured to the "real world" in hopes of ditching their daily princess rescuing lives, but Bowser, now unable to have anyone to oppose him, captures Peach and seizes the castle in hopes of provoking the the two. In case that doesn't work, Bowser has also sent Wario to drag them back, and so the series begins.
After getting wind of Bowser's latest plot through their ever trusty mailbox, Mario and Luigi, while furious, neglect the idea of saving the princess again and do the most logical thing ever: Try to find some Super Mushrooms. While they are searching, Wario comes upon them and brings them inside to talk things over about their vacation.
While discussing, Mario of course refuses any suggestion of returning to the Mushroom Kingdom, and Luigi backs his opinions, but Wario threatens to use force if they don't comply. Then Mario distracts Wario and the brothers run out of his house screaming. Wario admits being out bested, but swears he'll be back...
