Chapter 11: Lunch

Amid discussions of the upcoming break, Nanako reflects on her circumstances. A month since the heist, Okura has been cleared, Ueno has been put on probation and been grounded from using his car (for the bad publicity), and Nanako has been suspended indefinitely from the student council. She and Ren haven't spoken since that night, but he's been on her mind since the kiss. She gets a text from Ren asking her to meet him at the shrine, saying he has something to tell her. She anxiously agrees.

Chapter 12: After School

Nanako frets about the possibility of Ren confessing his love to her as she waits at the shrine. When he reveals himself, he uncomfortably says he came to say goodbye; for reasons unrelated to her or their heist, he's been expelled from Yasogami High. He mentions something that took place a year ago, alluding that she might have known about it because of her father, and says he'll be going to Tokyo to attend Shujin Academy, staying with a friend of his parents. He wanted to say goodbye to her because she was the closest thing to a friend he had; she hugs him and says she'll miss him, and he casually denies the claim before leaving.

Nanako goes straight to her father's office to ask about the case. Ryotaro has Yamamoto bring the paperwork and quickly realizes that someone with a lot of power, likely a politician, hushed up the details of the supposed assault. Nanako deduces that Ren was framed, to Ryotaro's approval, and he explains that if Ren makes it past a year of probation, he'll be clear. A long silence fades into brief small talk before Nanako heads home.

Chapter 13: Evening

After a listless day, Nanako reviews what she knows. The details of the case heavily imply that the 'victim' was hiding something, but she admits that she doesn't know Ren well enough to be certain that he's innocent. Reflecting on his sadness at having to leave, she draws the similarities to Yu: being forced into a new city where he knows nobody. She opens her phone and, after reconsidering one option, calls Yukiko Amagi for advice, who invites her over.

Over the last ten years, the Amagi Inn has grown even busier and Yukiko has grown into even more of a Yamato Nadeshiko. She's married a tall, well-built, and cheerful man named Sadao and had two children, six-year-old Tsuneo and his younger sister Ai, and is pregnant with another daughter. She's also ruthless if anyone crosses her when it comes to her inn.

Nanako tells Yukiko everything and admits she doesn't want the story to be over. Thinking of everything he's going through and how lonely he must be, Nanako wants to follow him to Tokyo. Yukiko says it's too much to do for a boy, but also reflects on how she used to see the inn as a cage but realized it was what she wanted after going on her own journey, and compares that to Nanako not having experienced the world outside Inaba. She encourages her to follow her path, and Nanako resolves to talk to her father about moving in with Yu.
