Struggles often begin and end with the truth.

The rebels continue in their struggle to free Onderon, but they have to deal with increasing complications when the former King is set to be executed. On a rescue mission to free King Dendup, Saw Guerrera ends up captured as well. As things go from bad to worse, can a desperate attempt at freedom end in victory?

Tropes:

  • Attack! Attack! Attack!: Despite appearing to be a more advanced tactical droid than the rest, Kalani’s lone response to insurgency is overwhelming firepower. General Tandin calls him out on this when Kalani nearly tortures Saw to death, saying that his harsh approach will lose favor in the eyes of the people.
  • Big Damn Heroes: The rebels' mission to rescue the former King fails and they are all set to be executed. Ahsoka prepares to rescue them singlehandedly, at the cost of revealing Jedi involvement in the insurgency, when she is preempted by General Tandin and his troops. Then, Ahsoka has to step in anyway to save his life when he's caught alone after everyone else gets away.
  • Cassandra Truth: As in the previous episode, King Rash flatly refuses to believe that Dendup isn't responsible for the rebels' actions even though, as Dendup points out, he's been imprisoned the whole time with no means of communicating with the outside world. Averted by General Tandin, who asks Saw point-blank whether he's taking orders from Dendup, and accepts Saw's answer of "We serve no-one" without question.
  • Deflector Shields: The rooftop garden of the royal palace has a one-way version of this which prevents Saw from escaping with King Dendup.
  • Electric Torture: Saw is shocked on Kalani's orders. General Tandin eventually has it stopped due to the danger of accidentally killing him since he's a link to the rebels.
  • Heart in the Wrong Place: While Saw is being tortured, a screen points out stress on his heart, which is depicted as being squarely on the left side of his chest. Generally speaking, humans in Star Wars are just the same as humans in real life.
  • Heel–Face Turn: General Tandin joins the rebels by the end of the episode, having come to disagree with the Separatists' brutal methods and Lack of Empathy.
  • Make an Example of Them: Rash decides to execute King Dendup to try and dissuade the rebels in their campaign to free Onderon.
  • Oh, Crap!: King Rash, when he sees the people of Onderon fighting back against the Separatist droids.
  • Public Execution: Rash attempts to hold one for King Dendup, but the rebels intervene.
  • Rousing Speech: Steela gives one at the beginning of the episode via hologram to try to convince the people of Onderon to fight against the droids.
  • Smug Snake: King Rash (at least until the end of the episode).
  • Your Terrorists Are Our Freedom Fighters: Discussed between General Tandin (who believes the rebels are terrorists) and Saw (who believes they are not). Tandin slowly comes round to Saw's viewpoint.
