The Aces are gearing up for a race that the announcer promises will determine whether or not Hype Fazon will stay ranked number one. Torra Doza is determined to take the top spot for herself, and she and Hype trade pre-race barbs. When the race begins, Torra takes the lead quickly due to her booster fuel, and is determined to keep it, although Hype is confident he'll win despite being behind. In the final stretch, Hype suddenly pulls ahead because, as he explains to Torra, she used up all of her booster fuel too early. After winning, Hype decides to thank the racer who always inspires him to win... not Torra, as she assumes, but Hype, as usual.
Tropes:
- The Cameo: Grevel and his goons Narb and Nod are seen watching the race.
- Can't Catch Up: Hype wins because he's older and more experienced, whereas Torra loses because she's not as experienced with racing strategy.
- It's All About Me: At the end, Hype decides to thank the racer who always pushes him to win... not Torra, as she assumes, but himself.
- Jerkass Has a Point: Hype is quite smug about how he's going to win throughout the race, even though Torra has the lead for most of it. However, when he does slide in to win, he points out that she used up all of her booster fuel too early.
- Status Quo Is God: The premise of this short is to see if Hype Fazon will be surpassed as #1. Just when it looks like Torra will take Hype's position, she ended using up her booster fuel too early, and Hype wins.
- Tempting Fate: Torra takes the lead early, and assumes that this means she's guaranteed to win. However, Hype, who is much more experienced than her, points out when he pulls ahead of her near the end of the race that she pushed too fast too early, using up her booster fuel too quickly.
