Recap / Star Trek Prodigy S 2 E 20 Ouroboros Part 2

Go To

The Voyager crew races to send the Prodigy back to Tars Lamora before the Weaver consume the timeline.

Tropes:

  • And the Adventure Continues: The episode (and the season) ends with the original Protostar crew plus Maj'El, now full-fledged Ensigns, commanding the Protostar-A to explore the universe.
  • Book Ends: The season ends with Dal, Gwyn, Rok-Tahk, Jankom Pog, Zero and Murph (plus Maj'El) leaving for the stars onboard the Protostar with Hologram Janeway, which is how season 1 had started.
  • Character Development: Dal finally accepts that he needs to prove himself before becoming a Captain, and decides to be Number One under Gwyn's command.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: With navigation disabled, Voyager needs the help of Cetacean Ops to navigate through the wormhole.
  • Flashback: A series of scenes from season 1 and 2, beginning with Dal and Rok-Tahk discovering the Protostar, flash by as the Protostar crosses the wormhole toward Tars Lamora to reassert the timeline.
  • Call-Forward: Many to Star Trek: Picard.
    • The destruction of Utopia Shipyards at the hands of the Synths, which was in the backdrop of Season 1 of Picard, occurs at the end of the episode. Jellico also mentions that Admiral Picard did not take well the order to cease assisting in the evacuation of Romulus.
    • Wesley Crusher is introduced to his baby brother, who plays a major role in Season 3 of that show.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Ascencia says this almost verbatim while guards take her away and she realises that the Weavers are about to consume Solum.
  • Ontological Paradox: Dal leaves a combadge on the Protostar before sending it to Tars Lamora, at the same place where Rok-Tahk found it when she first entered it. It is apparently the same combadge, so where does it come from in the first place?
  • Ship Tease:
    • Zero and Maj'El are shown touching fingers near the end of the episode, which is an affectionate gesture between Vulcans.
    • Dal becomes Number One to Gwyn, and more or less implies he is taking inspiration from Chakotay having served under Janeway. Given that Dal and Gwyn are clearly attracted to one another...
  • Stable Time Loop: Enforced. Chakotay and the Protostar crew ensure that the Protostar ends up on Tars Lamora with Hologram Janeway's memory erased just like they found it at the beginning of season 1.
