The show lands an interview with Michael Jordan, but the contract specifies they can only talk about the line of cologne he's started. Casey is nervous about a presentation he's doing for his son's class. And Sam returns from England, and continues to drive Dana crazy.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Bait-and-Switch: Dana assumes Sam will go along with Jordan's team having editorial approval of the interview, because he'll do anything for ratings, but when Isaac asks if they're that desperate, Sam shakes his head.
  • Continuity Nod: Sally tells Sam how she slept with Casey and Gordon.
  • Do Not Call Me "Paul": Dan wants to be known as "Daniel" now, not "Dan".
  • Head Desk: Dana's reaction when Natalie talks about how much she idolized Dorothy Hamill while they're prepping the Jordan interview.
  • It's What I Do: Casey ends up being himself in front of Charlie's class by announcing highlights of their games during recess. but it's Played for Laughs at first:
Casey: I did what I do, Dan. I did what I do.
  • Seinfeldian Conversation: When Dana goes to talk to Isaac about the Jordan interview, Isaac starts talking about living creatures in space.
  • Shout-Out: Casey says a girl in Charlie's class he interviewed about jacks came off like Muhammad Ali. Also:
Dana: I'm looking for ways to kill you, you know.
Sam: Dana, I have been through alcohol, marriage, and network television. If you want to kill me, you're gonna need some Kryptonite.
Dana: Petruchio makes a bet with his friends. They send for their wives and bet which one will come fastest at their command. See, you don't know everything. It's a beautiful scene, by the way, with a glorious speech from Kate. "Such small payment for so great a debt."
Sam: "Too little payment for so great a debt."
