After Morbius steals the Neogenic Recombinator intending to use it to create a whole new race of vampires, Spider-Man, Blade, and Terri Lee team up to stop him. Things get further complicated after Morbius kidnaps Aunt May and Felicia.
This episode provides examples of:
- Bittersweet Ending: Felicia and May are saved from being mutated into vampires, while Spider-Man recovers the Neogenic Recombinator and is formally cleared of all the vampire attacks. On the other hand, Morbius is transformed into a giant bat and flies off to parts unknown, devastating Felicia. Peter and Terri's love lives aren't in any better shape.
- Body Horror: When the Recombinator is firing a beam that could mutate Felicia, Morbius is forced to step in of the beam to save her, resulting in him mutating further into a giant bat monster.
- Break Her Heart to Save Her: When Mary Jane confronts Peter at his house because she believes that he has feelings for Felicia. Peter, knowing that Morbius is there looking for him, is forced to tell her she is correct to keep Mary Jane out of danger.
- Dramatic Irony:
- Blade gets angry at Spider-Man for not being there to help at Peter Parker's house when Morbius was there looking for Peter, believing if he was there they could have saved Aunt May for being kidnapped, as he doesn't know that Spider-Man was there as Peter.
- Just as Teri Lee convinced Blade not to kill Morbius, Spider-Man, thinking that he was going to still do it, shows up and allows Morbius to escape.
- He Who Fights Monsters: Thanks to Felicia, Morbius realizes he's become a plague as a vampire, like the one he described to her in his home country. The reason why he came to America was to work on a cure.
- Hope Spot: After Felicia is able to help Morbius see the errors of his ways and agree to get help for his condition, the Neogenic Recombinator fires a beam that might turn Felicia into a vampire, forcing Morbius to step in from of it for her protection, furthering his mutation.
- Love Redeems: When Morbius tries to turn Felicia into a vampire, she rejects him and tells she doesn't want to live a life that preys on innocent people. Hearing this Morbius realizes what he's doing is wrong, and decides to get help so he can be cured.
- Race Against the Clock: Picking up from the last episode, Spider-Man only less than 24 hours to recover the Neogenic Recombinator before his own mutation starts flaring up again. He only barely succeeds.
- Star-Crossed Lovers: Over the course of the episode, Terri Lee and Blade both develop feelings for each other, and at the end of the episode they share a kiss. Unfortunately, due them both being from different worlds, they cannot be together forcing them to say goodbye.
- Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Spider-Man and Blade, due to their different tactics and philosophies, especially when it comes to Morbius's life. It boils over after Aunt May gets kidnapped.
- Wham Line: After Morbius transforms into a giant bat, Spider-Man tells Felicia he will never be human again.
