When Sally and Bunnie disappear, Sonic and Nicole rush in to rescue them, discovering the Void. Within the Void they encounter a mysterious wizard named Naugus, and Sally's father, the long lost King of Mobotropolis.
This episode provides examples of:
- Actually Pretty Funny: Snively found (and still finds) Naugus' shape shifting torment on Robotnik hilarious. Given Robotnik's Death Glare at Snively in the flashback, this might have played a little into the doctor's contemptuous treatment of him later on.
- Bittersweet Ending: Sally's reunion with her father is short lived, with the latter forced to return to the void with Naugus to deal with the effects. Sally is depressed, but Sonic tells her he'll be fine since Naugus is taking care of him.
- Body to Jewel: Naugus and the King have been trapped in the Void for so long that their bodies have acclimated to it. Thus, when they return to Mobius, they start to crystallize, and they're forced to return.
- Oh, Crap!: Robotnik's very soul trembles at the thought of Naugus escaping the Void. Even more so when Naugus does escape and is after him for revenge.
- Prison Dimension: Robotnik used the Void to trap both Naugus and Sally's father in it.
