After Shadow sacrificed himself to toss Sonic out of the Grim, the blue blur ends up again in New Yoke City. Nine, however, isn't going to give up on capturing Sonic so easily, and uses the newfound power of the complete Paradox Prism to try to bring him back. However, in his struggle to save the people of the Shatterverse from the rogue fox, Sonic finds some unlikely allies.
Tropes:
- Big Damn Heroes: The Roses and the Scavengers show up to rescue Sonic and Denizen 1-9-9-8 as Nine messes with New Yoke's gravity. They are soon joined by Rebel and Knucks.
- Breaking Speech: As Nine uses the Paradox Prism to change the gravity of New Yoke, he tells Sonic how he won't be able to save everybody and that he's fighting alone. The fox is proven wrong when the rebels of New Yoke and the scavengers of Boscage Maze come to assist Sonic.
- Cliffhanger: While Nine is unable to breach the titular dome, the episode reveals that Sails, Batten and Catfish are still trapped in the crumbling No Place, and Nine plans to use them as bait to lure Sonic out of New Yoke.
- Continuity Nod: Rusty and Black Rose were last seen watching Thorn Rose kick ass (although she didn't notice them in turn) while the Scavengers rested down below. When they come to Sonic's aid, they're revealed to have met Thorn and the Scavengers off-screen and brought them along.
- Deadly Dodging: Trapped between two Grim Birdies, Sonic jumps just as they fire a laser bolt from their beaks so they hit each other. Subverted when the Birdies turn out to be perfectly fine.Sonic: I probably shouldn't have made them angry...
- Enemy Mine: The Chaos council were left with no choice but to join forces with Sonic and the rest of the heroes in order to have a chance to stop Nine.
- Evil Versus Oblivion: The Chaos Council spell it out to Sonic when they come to his rescue: if they don't stop Nine, there won't be a Shatterverse for them to rule over. Played with somewhat in that they started the "oblivion" bit (albeit seemingly by accident), and Nine's actions are merely speeding it up.
- Glass Smack and Slide: Grim Birdie gets thrown against a window in the titular dome and slides off. Dr. Don't notices this, but is unfazed.
- Gravity Screw: Nine uses the power of the Paradox Prism to change the gravity of New Yoke so everything falls to the side.
- Hidden Depths: Mr. Dr. Eggman notices Mangey messing with the Council's energy extractor, which was used to try and absorb Sonic's Prism energy. To his surprise, the wild fox makes the device more efficient, implying that he's smarter than he looks, if not as smart as Tails.
- "Oh, Crap!" Smile: When Sonic tries to play peacemaker between the Chaos Council and Shatterverse citizens by explaining the situation with Nine and the Shatterverse slowly being erased, he points out that this was started by the portals the Chaos Council opened, causing Mr. Dr. Eggman to smile sheepishly.
- Shout-Out: When New Yoke Big the Cat meets Hangry, the two of them point at each other in reference to the famous "Spider-Man pointing at himself" meme.
- We ARE Struggling Together: Despite Sonic's attempt to play peacemaker and remind everybody that Nine is the bigger threat, there is a lot of tension between the Chaos Council and everybody else. Unsurprising, given that until very recently, they were the Big Bad Duumvirate, and like Rusty Rose pointed out, their attempts to conquer the Shatterverse is what's causing it to fall apart.
