After the giant ball of darkness in the last episode brings Crash Bandicoot into Skylands, Eon explains that he is gonna need a object that can qualify as a dark relic to make a portal strong enough to help Crash get home. Assuming something of that nature is in the depths of the Falling Forest, the Skylanders and Crash head out to obtain it. During the mission, Spyro becomes impressed with Crash's abilities to the point where he even tries to mimic him, to bad outcomes. Meanwhile, Kaos gets his hands on Kaossandra’s evil book of spells and gains a power boost from it. This opens up his curiosity as to what other secrets it holds and what it can do to make him even stronger.
This episode provides examples of:
- Power Nullifier: The reason it's dangerous for Skylanders to venture so deep into the Falling Forest is because they lose their powers when they are deep enough, which becomes bad when Spyro gets himself into trouble and can't defend himself.
- Why Don't You Marry It?: After Crash saves two Mabus named Gary and Claire from some Greebles, Claire chastises Gary for allowing them to be saved by a bandicoot. Gary's response is saying that he doesn’t even know what that is, but then telling Claire to marry one because he thinks she apparently knows.
