Recap / Simple Samosa Episode 31 "Pimple Samosa"

Go To

Samosa wakes up and gets ready for the day, when suddenly he notices a pimple on his cheek. He panics and tries to get rid of it by applying cream to it, to no avail. The pimple reveals itself to be alive, says it's named Peter, and warns Samosa that he'll have a very hard time getting rid of him. Samosa's friends come over, and he shows them Peter after a failed attempt to hide him from them.

The gang carries Samosa to the hospital to take care of the pimple, but that doesn't work out too well either. Samosa goes home and flips through the channels on TV, eventually coming across a commercial for a special cream for eliminating pimples that provides a phone number for those who would like to test it. Peter attempts to sabotage the call, but Samosa ultimately gets the better of him.

At the TV studio where the commercial originates, the host tries to apply the cream to Peter, but Samosa calls off the test at the last minute to protect him, going so far as to give a speech about protecting him. The host at the TV studio trips over, revealing himself to be wearing a wig and causing everyone to laugh at him. After the host goes away, the studio audience reveals they've got their own sentient pimples as well, and Samosa takes a group photo with the audience, pimples and all.

The pimples become viral on the internet. Peter, who has decided to go on to do bigger and better things, finally detaches from Samosa and leaves him. The next day, Samosa wakes up to find a pimple on his cheek again, but instead of trying to break out the pimple cream, he stays friendly and grabs a tiny toothbrush for the pimple. The episode ends with a rendition of the theme song sung by a few pimples.

"Pimple Samosa" contains the following tropes:

  • Bandage Mummy: Dhokla, Jalebi, and Vada cover Samosa in bandages when they carry him to the hospital.
  • Clingy MacGuffin: The bulk of the episode is about Samosa trying to get rid of Peter the pimple.
  • Crowd Chant: The TV studio audience chants "Sa-mo-sa! Sa-mo-sa!" after Samosa stands up for Peter the pimple and inadvertently reveals the TV show host is wearing a wig in the process.
  • Diegetic Soundtrack Usage: A group of pimples appear at the end of the episode and sing the theme song. The only difference in their version of the song? Every "simple" is replaced with "pimple".
  • Dodgy Toupee: The host of the TV has a head of blonde hair which is revealed to be a wig when Samosa demonstrates various things he can do with the pimple cream besides actually using it on pimples. The host runs off crying when he realizes his wig has come off.
  • Garrulous Growth: Samosa quickly grows tired of the talking pimple on his cheek and tries to rid himself of it. By the end of the episode, however, he's not only changed his mind and started to appreciate the pimple, but when he grows another sentient pimple he just lets it brush its teeth with him instead of showing hostility towards it.
  • Pun-Based Title: "Pimple Samosa" is only one letter off from the title of the show, Simple Samosa. The episode is about Samosa getting a pimple.
  • Ridiculously Long Phone Number: Inverted. The number to call the TV studio for testing out their new pimple cream is literally just "1".
  • Rise of Zitboy: The episode is about Samosa getting a pimple and trying to rid himself of it.
