Recap / Simple Samosa Episode 30 Banana Fontana

Go To

Samosa claims to know a celebrity popstar named Banana Fontana and agrees to get her to replace Reddichillina Roly, who couldn't arrive for the grand opening of a new shoe store like the mayor had planned. The problem? Banana Fontana doesn't exist, so Samosa has to pretend to be her.

This episode contains the following tropes:

  • Absurdly-Long Limousine: Reddichillina Roly is in one when she's held up by a bun in the street.
  • Celebrity Lie: A variant, in that not only does Samosa not actually know Banana Fontana, but Banana Fontana doesn't even exist.
  • Company Cross References: The name "Banana Fontana" most likely derives from Hannah Montana, an American Disney television series.
  • Diegetic Soundtrack Usage: Samosa, as Banana Fontana, whistles the show's theme song a number of times for "her" concerts out of an inability to play the guitar.
  • Disguised in Drag: Samosa, whenever he is pretending to be Banana Fontana.
  • End-of-Episode Silliness: After Samosa reveals himself to be Banana Fontana, one of the last things we see in the episode is his friends revealing that, for some reason, they've been wearing full-body costumes of each other the whole time.
  • Full-Body Disguise: After Samosa has admitted he's Banana Fontana, his friends all reveal they've been wearing costumes of each other - Dhokla is wearing a Jalebi costume, Jalebi is wearing a Vada costume, and Vada is wearing a Dhokla costume.
  • Invented Individual: Banana Fontana, whom Samosa made up so that the mayor would have a celebrity act to accompany the shoe store's opening.
  • Line-of-Sight Alias: Samosa comes up with the name "Banana Fontana" after seeing a banana peel in a nearby window.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: The name Reddichillina Roly sounds similar to that of Angelina Jolie.
  • Paparazzi: One snaps lots of pictures of Reddichillina Roly as she's stuck in her limousine.
  • Rhyming Title: "Banana Fontana".
  • Shout-Out: The guitar Banana Fontana is given to play has Nirvana's logo on it. The same guitar appeared earlier in the episode "Dadi Ke Saath".
