Recap / Simple Samosa Episode 20 Cricket Match

Go To

Samosa is named the umpire in a Ghee 20 Cricket League match, and starts practicing. He then goes to the game, and he gets surprised when his friends show up as well.

"Cricket Match" contains the following tropes:

  • Baseball Episode: Or rather, a Cricket episode; cricket is the go-to batting sport in India where Simple Samosa is produced, rather than baseball, but the idea is the same. Samosa and his friends compete in a Ghee 20 cricket game.
  • Bizarre and Improbable Ballistics: The ball going into Samosa's mouth and causing him to bounce around the cricket stadium is highly unrealistic, and a clear case of Cartoon Physics at their finest. There's no way the ball should be able to push Samosa back anywhere near that much.
  • Bland-Name Product: The cricket arena has advertising for a company called "Wadaphone" on one of its walls, referencing the Vodafone telecommunications company.
  • Event Title: "Cricket Match", because it's about a cricket match.
  • Jaw Drop: Samosa's jaw drops when he sees Jalebi is one of the cricket game's players.
  • News Travels Fast: Cham Cham lies about a momo man breaking his glasses, but when Samosa reveals the truth by playing back footage on a screen on a building, him being called a "cheater" gets to his dad within a few seconds.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: Sachin Omlettaker, an egg wicketer, is named after a famous Indian cricket player, Sachin Tendulkar.
  • Overly-Long Tongue: Samosa's jaw drop when he sees Jalebi is coupled with his tongue rolling well out of his mouth.
  • Shout-Out: The Ghee 20 cricket league is a pun on the real-life cricket league T20.
  • Stealth Hi/Bye: Samosa appears out of nowhere in Falooda's bathroom, reminding him that the sprayer he uses to freshen up has run out of chutney.
  • Tempting Fate: Samosa muses to himself that "I hope Jalebi doesn't show up as well." when he sees Vada and Dhokla at the cricket match. She does show up, giving Samosa enough of a shock to send him into a jaw drop.
