Present on the Season 3 DVD
This is NOT Pitch Pilot. This was an episode Matt and Adam made that the eventually scrapped to make Pitch Pilot instead.
The episode begins with a disembodied voice named Gert introducing himself and inviting the viewers to come with him on a tale of adventure.
A shark is singing to himself as he swims. He startles three members of Sealab who are trying to interview a fish. One of them, Dutch, (who has Quinn's character design) tries to interview him too, but the shark swims away to get the gang, while Maria (who has Debbie's character design) declares the shark to be handsome.
Murphy is complaining to Marco about his constipation as he and Sparks try to steer him into making a decision on the gang of sharks. When Murphy dithers and complains about not getting enough sleep, Marco suggests taking a nice long swim...with the sharks. The shark is singing Maria's name, making Murphy think that he's here to court Maria.
Dutch and Apollo (with Stormy's character design) are going out to run errands. Dutch forgets what they're supposed to get, with Marco reminding him to get those things, and also Nigel, a shark expert.
Nigel smacks a shark, and then there's a deleted scene. The orphans think Nigel brought them porridge, but really he brought a rare and priceless bird from Amsterdam. Marco comes down to meet Nigel.
Meanwhile, Maria is claiming the sharks are just misunderstood as Murphy demands the orphans be taken away because they don't understand him.
As Apollo, Marco, Dutch, and Maria ride in Deep Diver, Apollo worries about his hair, which Dutch assures him looks fine. The shark is still hitting on Maria.
Murphy is showing Nigel an article about irregular heartbeats in his book. Nigel and Marco try to get him back on track with the sharks. Nigel's idea is to build a fence that the sharks can't breach and then taunt them.
The fence has been built and everyone is doing the 'taunting dance'. As Nigel expresses his confidence that the shark can't breach the fence, the shark makes a big enough hole to breach the fence. The orphans make jokes while Pelty, a sea lion with an Indian accent, tries to make them aware of the seriousness of the situation.
Dutch, Apollo, and Maria go to face the shark, Maria bringing along a valentine for him, while Dutch claims Marco is his valentine. Marco denies it and tries to think of a solution to the shark problem. Murphy needs an explanation on what a 'plan' is, and decides to go with Nigel's plan after Marco's plan was to feed Murphy to the sharks.
Nigel's plan is to release dolphins from the tuna boats to attack the sharks. However, the dolphins forget their own rumble song. Nigel's next plan is to make shark love potion and use that.
The orphans try to make Nigel their dad, but he refuses and tells them to try Murphy, since he's starved for love. They come up to ask Murphy to be their dad, to which he orders Marco to lock them in the lobster trap. One of the orphans follows Nigel out in the lobster trap to try and convince him again, saying they'd visit him in the shark's belly. Nigel tries to refuse, only for the orphan to point out that he's in a sharkproof cage and Nigel isn't. As Nigel debates, Apollo, Maria and Dutch watch.
Nigel then releases the love potion, only for it to dissipate in the ocean. The shark confronts him, and Nigel agrees to be the orphan's dad to get in the cage. The shark eats his stick and then brushes against Deep Diver. Dutch plans to abandon ship, Maria just claims the shark's scratching himself, and Apollo claims the shark doesn't love Maria, but loves Apollo's luxurious hair. Dutch gets Nigel and the boy in Deep Diver, then makes the shark jealous by saying he plans to smooch Maria.
Marco calls Nigel a loser, but it turns out the love potion attracted squids for the sharks to eat. Maria's pissed because the shark's gone now and Marco thanks him. Nigel decides it's time to go.
Gert returns to close out the story and hopes the pilot is picked up as a series. He ends by giving some advice to the viewers.
