Dr. Cox grudgingly asks for Dr. Kelso's assistance in getting rid of Dr. Maddox, and Carla tries to get a troublesome intern in line.
- Bullying a Dragon: Katie insists that Carla can't talk to her like that, she's just a nurse.
- Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: Katie tries to invoke this as an excuse for her behavior. Carla just rolls her eyes and points out all the other people with similar stories and how it doesn't stop them from being good doctors.
- It's All About Me: Katie is still doing this, sucking up to Elliot and throwing Denise under the bus in the hopes of getting interesting procedures for her private practice patients. She also takes credit for another intern's work.
- Large Ham: The Janitor goes wild when he and Cox break into the records room because this sort of thing is so commonplace he had to invent a character who's terrified of going back to prison to get the rush back.
- Not So Above It All: Katie insists she doesn't care what others think about her, but she snatches the list of things people have said about her out of Carla's hands to see them. (It's actually Turk's grocery list. "sausages sausages sausages sausages")
- Offhand Backhand: When Kelso asks Donnie for a muffin, Cox smacks it out of the air without even looking.Donnie: Dude!
- Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Maddox is making it impossible to do this because she's so much more on top of everything than Kelso was.
- Pat, the MS patient, lies about having MS and being colorblind because his daughter has MS but no insurance. JD and Elliot agree to help him as soon as they realize what's going on.
- Sweet Tooth: Elliot is willing to flirt with the gift shop guy for free candy.
