Recap / Scooby Doo Team Up Quest For Mystery

Go To

The gang team up with the Quests, Race Bannon, and Hadji to stop a mummy stalking a museum. However, once they've unmasked the spook, they need to go after Dr. Zin to rescue Dr. Quest and retrieve a stolen ruby.

This comic includes examples of the following tropes:

  • Absurd Phobia: For some reason, Shaggy is somewhat scared of marshmallows.
  • Accidental Hero: Seeing a door open and stampeding for the potential exit, Shaggy and Scooby knock Dr. Zin over as he attempts to pull an Exit Villain, Stage Left.
  • Disguised Hostage Gambit: Dr. Zin dresses up Dr. Quest as one of his genetically engineered monsters, hoping that his team would attack him, which would allow him [Dr. Zin] some satisfaction from their reactions when they found out what they had done. Luckily, Velma recognized that the "monster" wasn't a monster when she saw its shoes, and was just in time to keep Race from shooting Dr. Quest with the sonic blaster.
  • Don't Ask, Just Run: After they've found Dr. Quest and captured Dr. Zin, Race announces that he's just set up the Quest group's signature move, and Jonny tells everyone to run. The gang does, but Daphne asks why while she's doing so. It turns out that the Quest group's "signature move" is Stuff Blowing Up.
  • Eek, a Mouse!!: Shaggy and Scooby run from a mouse, much to the girls' amusement. However, not having seen it, they didn't know that it was a huge, genetically engineered monster mouse.
  • Everyone Knows Morse: Dr. Quest starts blinking while his captor is gloating in a hologram recording. Jonny translates it as meaning that his father managed to activate the tracker in his shoe.
  • Follow the Chaos: When Jonny asks Daphne how the other group knew they needed help, Daphne answers that they followed the large amount of noise that the villain, Jonny, Shaggy, and Scooby were making.
  • Go Through Me: Velma dodges in front of Dr. Zin's monster as Race is preparing to shoot it with the sonic blaster. She realized at the last moment that the monster was a disguised Dr. Quest.
  • Imposter Forgot One Detail: Dr. Zin disguising Dr. Quest as a monster almost worked...except that he left the doctor's patent leather shoes on. When Velma spotted them, the plan fell apart.
  • Kidnapped Scientist: Dr. Zin kidnaps Dr. Quest to work on his death ray.
  • Never Trust a Trailer: An accidental example. When the cover was uploaded onto DC's website for the reveal, only Scooby-Doo and Shaggy were shown fleeing from the mummy. The actual cover adds Johnny, Bandit and Race.
  • Security Cling: In addition to the usual jumping into each others' arms, Shaggy jumps into Race's arms and Scooby jumps into Fred's in a panic when alligators surround the group.
  • Tempting Fate: As they're climbing a rope, Shaggy comments that it's good reptiles can't climb. Cue the genetically enhanced alligators starting to climb up after them.
  • You and What Army?: When unmasked, Dr. Zin's henchman scoffs at Jonny's assertion that he's not going anywhere. However, Race, Hadji, Fred, Daphne, and Velma arrive not long afterwards.
